I had already searched for this topic but I couldn't find it discussed at length in any topic.  Sorry if I missed it!

I've never successfully projected on purpose.  I am aware of 3 times when I was out of body without trying.

I estimate that I have made maybe 70 attempts, of which I was estimate 45 are at night time when I'm going to bed, 20 are the after waking up kind of attempts, and 5 are middle of the day, take a 'nap' type of attempts.

95% of my attempts have been on my back.

For most of my life I found it impossible to fall asleep on my back.  There would be times when, extremely sleep deprived, I would try to project on my back, and no matter how long I tried, I would neither project nor would I fall asleep.  I would eventually roll over to my side and sleep out of exhaustion.

For the last 5 days I have fallen asleep flat on my back every night (while attempting to project) this includes nights when not exceptionally tired.  Sometimes I try it while wearing headphones, one night I found them on the floor (what I would expect to happen if I was shifting positions while wearing them) but one night I found them neatly hanging on the arm of a nearby office chair.  I previously have had very good recall about going to sleep and would never forget something like taking off my headphones so I could roll over more comfortably.

This seems very strange to me. Have I trained myself to sleep on my back?  Is this going to make projecting a lot harder?

If your sleeping on your back when you normally couldn't, I would say this is an indication that you're getting good at conscious relaxation. Too relaxed I guess, but if you try it at a time you normally wouldn't fall asleep, you might have a better chance. I sleep on my side, but attempt AP lying on my back, which I had to train myself to do.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try to find more time to practice that isn't when I'm tired and going to bed for the night.
