Today I got up at 4am stayed up for 5 min and then put my clothes on on and on my bed I relaxed and then concentrated on my breathing, I did this for an hour, nothing, no vibrations, noises, feeling heavy, feeling light, SP nothing at all, whenever I try to AP after I wake up I never get anywhere. When I try before sleep or any other time I get something like I feel numb, my body feels weird, once I got the vibrations etc. WHY ?? am I doing something wrong  :?

I don't say this to be mean... but...

You simply don't understand that which you're trying to do.
Jump into the seat of a helicopter and try to fly it.  You're not going to get very far without figuring out what the controls do... and even then, that's only half the battle.  lol
But we'll just kill the analogy there for a second.

You say you "concentrated on my breathing"... let's focus on that for a minute, because that's going to be your make or break action.  Are you allowing your mind to wander at all during this?  Are you gently bringing it back each time you notice your mind doing this?  Are you expecting anything to occur?  Are you focusing on your body while expecting anything to occur?

Try this... don't worry about vibrations, noises, heavy feelings, SP... NOTHING.  Forget you even know all that stuff.  Now, focus all your attention completely and utterly upon your breathing.  Breathe in... feel the air passing through your nostrils, passing up your nose, down into your lungs... don't just "feel" it though, completely ENGROSS YOURSELF in the sensations.  Then when your lungs are comfortably full, begin to breathe out... completely engrossing yourself in every sensation associated with that biological movement.  Each time you breathe in again, increase the depth of how completely engrossed in focus you are on those sensations...

The deeper you get, the more "lost" in the moment you'll become... keeping the focus on the sensations will keep your mind active, just keep at it.

Focus... deeper... focus... deeper... focus... deeper... etc... eventually the physical reality will completely melt away.  At one point you'll notice it has melted away and you'll notice that you're not experiencing ANYTHING.  It will be just YOU there, no physical anything.  This alone will probably snap you back to reality, but then just keep doing what you're doing.  Keep teetering between "here" and "there"... and eventually you'll notice yourself "there" and you'll remain "there".

and I think we should leave it at that simply perfect answer rather than confuse the matter with elaboration, personal additions and opinions.  :-)

Agreed!  :-)

I also agree. And remember, don't try so hard, let your body fall asleep

There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Xanth said it brilliantly.  Take notice what Xanth said as it was really good advice.  I would like to add one thing.  I have said this before.  If I do not think I will ap I usually do not ap.  If I think how long is this going to take, I have to get up soon to do other things or I do not feel like doing this anymore, I  usually do not succeed.  I have to have a good frame of mind and concentrate like Xanth says.  My mind has to be relaxed and focused.

Very well said. I'm certainly guilty of trying too hard.

As I usually chime in, there are a handful of things that go unsaid about what you should NOT be doing during this beginning get to F10 process. People rarely hear these.

- Don't move your eyes. Let them relax.
- Don't moving your body(voluntary muscles) at all. Any moving should snap you back to square 1.
- Don't even think about your breathing, just visualize something fun, preferably metaphsyical
- Don't lay on your side.
- Don't hum
- Don't scratch itch or anything like that
- Keep your teeth touching, relaxed against one another, not open

I hope I caught something you might be doing. I'll add some more if they come to my mind.

Cheers,

I do not have time at the moment to read what others or myself have said.  I hope I am not saying what someone has already said.  Belief is very important.  If you have doubts that you can ap in the morning, then ap will become harder.  That is how it is for me.  I used to be able to ap in bed a lot but not anymore.  I had to change my beliefs and it did not happen overnight.  It took many weeks.  I can now ap in bed without falling asleep.   I have a sleep first.  This morning I was about to ap three times but I got distracted.  The cat was walking around and the dog was making a noise.  I think I will have to get away from the distractions and ap in another room.  That was a shame as I spent a long time changing my thinking.  If the animals do not make any noises, my husband snores.
