Your mind is connected to your body. Every daydream about eating that incredible food you have been dying for?

Your mouth starts to water up as if its already in your mouth.

Your mind caused a physical change in your body chemistry.

In dreams...you are in your dream world created by your mind...and this mind is still connected to your body.

Stephen LaBerge actually did a few interesting experiments pertaining to this except it had to do with lucid dreams.

Now for supposed obe's or AP....thats a different story. I've never had one...so I'll let someone else try to explain to me how someone can leave their body.

Perhaps obe's are really just lucid dreams.

I had this one incredible lucid dream a while back....perhaps if i was reading an obe book at the time i would of thought it was an obe...who knows?

But if you think about it...if you mind can create a dream world...why could your mind not create a so-called Astral plane with astral entities?

I mean...your mind can basically create anything you can imagine...so its seems to me to not be that farfetched.

There are lots of theories about the astral, one of them alot like yours. Sure your mind can create alot of amazing stuff, and it probably creates the astral too.

Now im not saying its not real, instead, I believe the astral is infact created by a part of our mind, and substained through which, by means of a collective subcontious or uncontious.

Its not hard to believe you could be imagining everything, but is it really that hard to believe that it could be based on shared imagination? but back on track..

Centra Five: I've heard some pretty good and bad stories about 'astral sex'. Some people tend to have amazing encounters with other people or astral entities, while on the other hand, some people end up mistaking negs for partners and that just gets messy. Some one posted something about it a while ago, and how lots of sexually active people apparently remain in lower astral realms.

Yeah...i've heard of that concept of a "collective unconscious" I believe it was from Carl Jung who introduced it to me. His contention was that he also believed everyone had a personal unconscious as well.

Perhaps someone could create their environment with their mind....and another person sort of taps into it. But then...how would they know how to tap into it?

If you view sex only as a physical act then I think it is most likely that any thoughts of it will ground you to your physical body.

Sex can be used to aid in AP, energy work, and many other things by working with the energy. If you are uncomfortable with this idea then either you have to change your view or it is just not for you.

I don't know if you can have an actual sexual experience on the astral that is like it is on the physical. I would say that most likely it will draw your attention more to the physical and cause the experience to end, as many have experienced.

I definitely wouldn't condone using a sexual desire to project. And here is why:

1) First off, I have tried this, and unless I'm just a weak-minded individual, everytime I have tried to use sexual drives to help me OBE has always resulted in me getting friggin' hornier than hell during my relaxation process! This, in turn, causes me to lose all forms of concentration, and I end up having to....ahem....relieve myself before going back to bed.

2) Even if I was able to project using sexual desire as a motivation, I would soon find myself in the astral with an enormous sexual desire. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I have had more OBE's cut short because of this distracting desire than OBE's which were memorable.

3) On a side note, I did have one OBE where I actually looked down into my astral pants and saw my astral penis. I purposely wanted to see if I still had it "on the other side" and to my relief, I did! I probably would have flipped out if I peeked in my pants and saw that I was built like a Ken doll.

You are not suppose to use sexual desire to project. I don't see how you could. But you can use sexual energy. It envolves transforming it from something so volatile into more refined energy. Now I have never actually used any sexual method to project, but during such practices I have felt like I could leave my body but I choose not to.

The one time when i was lucid or obe that i wanted to connect to a lady that i felt a connection to, i was immedeatly shown a locked gate-my conclusion is that this is an area that you have no control over-if it is meant to be it will be.

I totally agree with Jeff on that one. I have also had some very memorable OBEs as a result of turning my attention away from a possible sexual facination. On several occations this concious putting away the sexual in a lucid state actually triggered a OBE.Now I am not saying this to insinuate there is anything wrong with sex masturbation or what have you, it just seems to me that it maybe makes a shortout between the etheral and the physical. Sort of being reminded of the physical.

using sexual desire was great for lucid dreams but not for obe for me anyway. I was caught in the trap of becoming lucid and looking for sex. It was great way to get me lucid but then the emotions would take over and that is all id look for. As soon as you get into the act you wake up becouse you are trying to do a physical act in a non physical way, so after may failed attempts I finally could become lucid and and I feel the sexual desire then Id stop myself usually by self control yelling NO. Then I would go and do what I really intented to do in the first place which usually meant looking for guides and answers...

Thank you all for your helpful and inciteful comments. And DOA: I think that you are right on track with the need to shelve the sexual desires in lucid dreams. Not much sense in getting into a lucid dream if you are going to sabotage yourself and abruptly end it!! Since discovering this my lucid dreams have been longer and much more productive. I am now able to persue my orginally desired aim of learning and expanding my knowledge of the the higher realms and seeking the true spiritual path.

Maybe the reason people can experience these sexual emotions while in the astral and not before or as a means to project, in my opinion could be the human confusion between sex and love.

Because two people who are in love might also be able to describe this feeling of two beings being merged.

when someone has the experience that askeltal is talking about with that feeling of pure love this is what makes sex something different to an act of lust or desire.

I think if you try to project while experiencing sexual energy and using this as a means maybe your actually projecting this energy in a way that we only experience as physical beings.

Well, maybe someone else agrees or maybe not would like to hear..

Having read what everyone has posted here and thinking about it the past few days, I feel compelled to write this. I think that everyone is correct. I have learned from the posts and came to the following based on the posts and what I have experienced.

First let me define these two terms.

Sexual desire - the desire to have sex, lust

Sexual energy - energy generated in the groin area (chakra) from sexual desire, either by thoughts, images, physical stimulation, reading, etc.

It all does start out with sexual desire, be it from just thoughts of having sex, seeing something exciting, physical stimulation, just anything that gets you sexually excited, generates sexual desire. Sexual desire in turn generates sexual energy. This energy is in the groin area or chakra. Left here it will build until it is too great and released. This does not have to be so though. Turning your mind to your energy body, you can draw the sexual energy up much in the same way you do with NEW. The problem is that sexual energy is rather hot and volatile (distracting as well), especially to someone who is new at working with it. You need to focus on moving your attention and energy out of the groin and up to the higher chakras. Passing it through the higher chakras, or just moving it up your spine and back down to the sub navel storage, can change this energy dramaticly. Changing it from the hot and volatile energy to more refined yet powerful energy.

Now we are more than just physical and energy. At this point I think one has connected with the physical and etheric. But to truly experience this to the fullest you must connet to the astral, which is the emotions. Emotions are important and should not be underestimated either with this or any astral work. Much like Centa Five described the astral sex experience, this is what one aims for in this, that kind of connection. This can be with another being or the universe itself. This comes from love. So you must put love into the practice to experience love. You reap what you sow. This is important with the emotions. You put in hate, you will reap it and more than what you put in. So I strongly suggest only positive thoughts and emotions.

When doing these things on each level, physical, energy work on the etheric, and emotion on the astral, then you are connected, or a better word is probably aware of all three at the same time. This is truly a wonderful experience (understatement).

Now I have never tried this, but I think that if you reach this state where you are aware of all three planes, then you should be able to lose your awareness on two of them (the physical and which ever other one you wish) to become fully conscious of just one, be it etheric or astral. Now the reason I have never done this is because the state of being aware of all three through this method is so ... well it is hard to describe. It is very pleasurable, loving, this feeling of being one with the universe. It really leaves you with no desire, just this ... well imagine how it would feel to be one with the universe, would you desire anything? But whenever I start this out, I have never had the intent to project, so that could make a difference. If you have the intent to do something, then you should be able to. Just keep it in mind when you reach this state. That is my thought. I may experiment with it some day to see if it works. But to me the connection is just as important as any other form of astral exploration.

The truth is that there is probably no concrete truth, just perception. I am seeing it as the etheric being that which is closest to the physical. The overlapping of the astral and physical. In this area one finds the energy body. The etheric plane could be thought of as the Real Time Zone. The astral is farther from the physical. I am not so sure that there are any kind of boundaries that separate them.

I realize that this is a sensitive and controversial topic but one that is often overlooked and seldom is satisfactorily explained. The reason I bring this up at this point is because I recently read something that I found troubling. People were advised to use strong motives during AT practice and a sexual desire was listed as being one of them. My opinions on this subject are based on my previous experiences during Lucid Dreams, both regular and phased and projections and I would like to entertain any comments you all might have regarding this topic.
To the best of my knowledge the Astral Body is not equipped for or capable of what we usually consider physical sex on the earth plane. The only thing I have ever experienced in the Astral that even came close to sex was when I encountered three beings that were more light energy rather than substance as their features were not really discernable and one of them stepped forward and we just seemed to merge together and became one entity, there was some kind of an electrical flash of pure ecstacy and then we parted. It was wonderful and very memorable as this happened many years ago. The merging only lasted for a few seconds and I felt a great bond of love rather than desire. I know I haven't described this well but it is difficult to put these feelings into words. I am sure that some of you have had similar encounters and you may be able to do a better job of it. Most of the lucid dreams I have had with sexual content, which were very vivid and real- appearing, ended whenever any physical contact was made and emotions came into play. They would usually start to melt and I would find myself back in the physical immediately.

I realize that there are young people who read this post and I hope that they are not offended by this material. I will understand if the Moderator needs to edit this post. I would appreciate any comments that the readers would like to make relevant to their experiences along these lines. I would like to set aside any moral judgement for this topic as it might cloud its relevancy.

My personal aim in projecting is to learn and evolve if I can thru knowledge gained in the higher planes and to leave any thoughts of sexuality here on the physical plane where it is feasible.

Having said that in my personal opinion that sex as we know it here on this plane is not possible in the Astral I have this puzzling question that keeps interferring with this belief. How is one to explain a wet dream?
