I feel like I'm hitting a wall

I've been meditating for about a year now, just when I was overly stressed and needed to get away. Recently, I guess about one month prior to Thanksgiving I started trying to astral project. My usual process is, I lay down and close my eyes and slowly relax and move my consciousness towards the back of my head. Then when I am completely relaxed I attempt to have to float away from me, everything goes as planned until I start to feel sick and light, but I manage to work my way past that feeling. I feel like I'm just about to separate and then it feels like I'm stuck or hung and it won't make any forward progress.

I believe I had one OBE while meditating on accident, while meditating for about an hour just staying in the center of my mind, I saw my self sitting there but it was me in the form of what looked to be pure blue energy. I didn't realize what it was at the time.

I have a few questions
When trying to separate, does it actually feel like your consciousness is floating out or is it just out there?
Do you focus on trying to leave your body, or just think about it and wait for it to happen?

From My personal experience you'll feel yourself Floating out of your body from the top back of your head and ussually you will hear a sound of a Metal door scraping which is your chakras supposedly opening up. Hearing that sound makes all the difference of comparing a legit OBE to a Lucid dream :).

So you're supposed to push it out of your crown?

I've been trying to push it through my third eye

Also is it normal to become aroused when leaving my body?

I have heard that people exit through the third eye, the crown, and also the heart chakra. I have never completely experienced this, but from what I have read, you feel yourself floating out and the next thing you know, you are looking at your physical body. If you get into a panic, you will pop right back in. I also heard that, for beginners, it is very difficult to stay out of the body or focus for a long time.

Has anyone projected from full lotus

Ya, It's practically impossible that one of your first OBE's will last more then 10 minutes.
Like they say.......Practice gets better :)

You can exit from any of the chakras.  The most common are the third eye and crown though... at least from what experiences I've read from others.

To answer your original question of what it feels like when you separate...
It totally depends on you really.  You can feel the 'separation'... you can feel a shifting... you can feel nothing... there's no "this is exactly what it should feel like" answer.  :)

I'd like to add to what Xanth is saying.
When one is exactly at the moment of separation there is a momentary blip in the consciousness. It fades and comes back in a non-physical way. Now, some may not even notice this, for them its like instantly out, no floating, no sounds ...

With practice, some may start noticing it, in which case, there is a smooth transition and the blip is very tiny. During this you may hear loud noises or feel yourself rising up and floating away.

As for getting aroused or afraid or excited, it usually means that you will not project. Absolute calm and indifference is needed to get out consciously. As you are a meditation student, you should have no problems handling this. Equanimity will come through practice.

One more thing, IMO, if you remain focused on the body part where a particular chakra is, you will remain stuck to the physical. Chakras are not physical, don't take them literally.

Ok so I'd like to add I had the starts of my first OEB!!!! :-D

I laid down for a nap around 11:00ish and was woken up around 1ish. I was still in the sleep paralysis stage, and managed to realize I was before falling asleep. I started to hear banging in my house(auditory hallucinations).

It was nothing like I had ever imagined, it felt bad at first it I felt sick and it felt like all of my muscles were full of energy and wanted to burst. All of a sudden I could see, I thought my eyes were open and I went to close them and they were already closed. I was looking up feeling my body and like I was not part of my body all at once. Then the dogs started to bark, I snapped back down and my vision faded to black and my eyes were closed

I'm just so happy I can finally know what it feels like to separate, this is a huge step  :-D

Thats great! Dont forget to keep it up. I think a first step is to keep having this experiance until you are comfortable with it and so the feelings dont frighten you.

I have only projected once a few years ago and I have just started to try again now. One of my experiances was very similar to this. Even though my eyes were closed I could see through them as I started to drift downwards I was looking through the pillow (like my eyes were in the centre of the pillow). Though everything was black and white.

Oh not sure if you do, but I highly recommend keeping a journal of these experiances and tests, even if they dont work. I tend to write everything I felt and write as I think, so when I read back I can tell how excited I was by my wording - that sort of thing. Feelings from memories can fade, its almost like watching it on a TV, you have no emotional connection. Also great to read back on if you loose your way abit or need a confidence boost.

Yes, I've started writing them down. Before experiencing it, I had trouble understanding how someone could not recall what had happened during an OEB, but it feels like waking up from a dream

Seriously, lately I am feeling a blockage of some sort. I can't focus, nor can I expand my awareness like before. I have never had trouble with falling asleep accidentally while trying to 'project' but just recently it started happening. Anyone else?

I have heard people say that you can have up and down periods. Times when you can be very susccessful and other times not get anywhere. Also could be the moons phase, you never know. Or, do you have something on your mind maybe?

By your post I was inspired to start my workings again! I was practicing clearing/opening my chakras last night I started to here noises. There were two though the only one I can hear way the sound of metal falling/scape. I think since I read it in your post it didnt worry me quite as much!

That's good to hear, I actually started projecting again when I was trying to take a nap and I had to stop it because I have a night shift tonight and needed rest. I'm hoping that doesn't mess me up :-(

I have tried to. Though my house hold is extremely noise from about 7:30am on wards and I live in a bungelow so its extremely frustrating :)
