Strange thing happens when OBEing, what is it?

I go into a trance state yet I am fully conscious. Then, out of nowhere I am taken to where my body is slipping down some stairs. It seems as if I'm actually there, actually going down the stairs in a jolted fashion, then I wake up and instead of being on the stairs I'm in my bed where I was doing the trance work.

Now this seems really strange to me and is freaky when it happens. My only theory is that I have actually already separated and only suddenly become aware of it then my silver cord slams me back into my body.

Any input would be appreciated.

You're right.

Firstly comes the sensation of being there, then comes the sight and other perceptions. If you had continued going down the stairs and out the door you would have succeeded in transposing your consciousness there.
