guide/helper question

Can I communicate with an astral entity while in my body? So while attempting astral projection, lying down, probably in an altered state of mind, can I ask an astral entity (one willing to help me) or call one to help me to project?
I have been really close to projecting before but I still haven't been able to, and I am unbelievely motivated to do it. I really want to.

I think all you have to do to get a guide attention while in your body is think it and they well hear you.
