Yep

This used to annoy me.  I discovered I was simply allowing my attention to drift and was infact "almost" asleep.  I've got round that now just my keeping my attention levels up with whatever I'm doing.  This could be by following a mental set piese through without wondering off OR it may be that I just maintain an objective dialogue with myself - sort of mentioning to myself a lot of what I'm experiencing.

If you put your mind to it, you can easily stay focused and conciouss. Doing something like counting, breathing exersises, etc should really help. Focusing on anything simple will work, you might get side-tracked with internal dialouge though..

I find my biggest dificulty is exiting, not getting into a trance.

Hello -

I usually try to AP every night before sleeping but always either fall asleep or turn over and give up. I noticed something, however, that I always do. WHen I am lying in my bed I can usually clear out my mind for a little bit. THen what happens is strange. It's like I go comatose or something. My body/ brain is still awake but my mind is off in some strange space without thought, without images, without anything really. It's as if I go through some mental timewarp because when I come back to normal awarness, it feels like I was 'out' for hours when it really was only 30 - 40 minutes. Anyone else experience this trailing of the mind? I usually find it very very easy to go to sleep after this happens and I give up so maybe its just my mind slowing down before it enters sleep mode. Can someone give a suggestion? thanks
