Are you sure you've been in trance???

Best regards.

Ya, I'm pretty sure it was a trance.  I think it was, because while I was trying to slip into it, I must have fell asleep, but then I found myself laying in the blackness, and I had the "heavy" feeling in my body, but I found it very hard not to get excited.  Eventruly, I couldn't help having some excited feelings and it ruined the trance.

It sounds to me that you were rather in a deep transe, since you were in the "dark" place. Did you feel unconfortable in that transe? Were you kind of feeling almost a little cold ? The fact that you said that you were exhausted means that it was not relaxed/relaxing.

If it is just a start then you should practice the light transe, not the deep one. Just relax and feel that sensation that your body is heavy and sinking into the matress of the bed. Let yourself go to observe your own body (breathing, heartbeat,..). You will know that you are in transe if someone makes a noise you will jump (like when you are surprised by the bark of a big dog for example), but it should feel relaxing and confortable. You can still hear all what is happening around you but you do not pay attention to it, it should not distract you. WHen you are in a deep transe you might well not hear the outside anymore, you might get to that feeling where it is only your mind. You don't feel your body, are in a dark and quite place... that would mean you went too far.

I hope I could help. Good luck .

Thank you, that helped alot.  I think I actually was in a deep trance, because my body felt like it was "twisted up".  A bit hard to explain, but it was quite uncomfortable.  Thank you again for your help.

As frustrating as it might sound, that only true key is practice, practice, practice.  There is no substitute!  Good luck!

The trance state borders on sleep. Most beginners who go into trance soon slip directly into sleep. [|)] It is a balancing act of being  able to maintain consciousness but not becoming too aware and mentally active on one side and not falling asleep on the other. There is no foolproof method for remaining in deep trance. Even the most experienced meditators sometimes fall asleep unintentionally. Continued practice of trance and meditation will allow you to stay in that borderland trance state much longer in the future[:)].

Hey, I have just resently gotton into my first trance (about 10 minutes before I sat down to write this).  I found it very mind exhausting to stay in this state with my mind awake but my body asleep.  Is this normal?  In fact, it was so mind exhausting that I could hardly concentrate on "climbing the rope".  What can I do to fix this?  Thanks for reading, hope you reply :D
