In robert monroe's book ultimate journey on page 90 robert monroe says"you don't have to force your way through your visit. You may pack up your experience and leave for whenever and for wherever you desire. So when robert monroe said this was he basically saying that it's possible to make yourself permanently leave your body or was i misinterpreting what he said?

I don't have Ultimate Journeys, and I read it years ago so I don't recall. But I would say that perhaps it's a misinterpretation, in that you can only "leave" permanently when your silver cord connecting the Astral with Physical body is severed at it's predetermined time.

Two options on what Monroe may have meant by that quote.

1) The knowledge and ability to leave the body via OBE allows a person to "leave behind" the old, outmoded physically based world view. That opens up possibly unlimited opportunites to expand the consciousness in a spiritual and/or metaphysical way.

2) OBEs allow an individual the option to literally take off and go whenever and wherever they want to go via Out of body travel. Of course the travel is not permanent, it is only temporary. Monroe journeyed to hundreds, if not thousands, of incredible locations. so when he wrote
QuoteYou may pack up your experience and leave for whenever and for wherever you desire.
he was implying that the journeys were only temporary.
btw that is the way I interpret his quote.

He never uses the words 'forever' or 'permantly'. I don't think he's really talking about leaving the body forever. To me it seems there's more to the idea than what you've taken from the paragraph. It almost seems like he's using OBE's as a means of escape?

I'd have to see the whole part to be more certain.

I didn't think of it like that. And i can't tell you the rest of the paragraph because i don't own the book anymore.Sorry.

Awakened_Mind

Shame. I don't think there's enough there to be fully comprehended for anyone who hasn't read the book.

You know, I remember reading that passage in Monroe's book, and the impression I got was that he was almost condoning suicide.  You don't have to finish your sojourn here if you don't want to, and are free to pack up and leave.  Well, how would you do that without ending your life?  I don't know if I agree with Bob in this regard, but then, there are a lot of things I don't know.

I also believe it was related to suicide, or leaving permanently.  Its hard to see in that small context, but it does seem that is what he was saying.  IS there something wrong with 'condoning' suicide?

Yeah.I would think so.But that's just me. :|

I don't believe that's what he meant at all

When i read it i believed he was saying when you reach that certain point..in consiousness..you can simply leave and project yourself wherever and whenever you want.
