Has there been any other successfull AP verification besides Charles Tarts work?

K most people know of Charles Tarts work when it comes to any known confirmation of things in the real world witnessed outside of ones physical body like the 6 digit numbers he set up.

I just wanted to know is there any other known controlled research comn besides Tarts work that have shown verification of people being able to view things out of their regular 5 senses? If so pls post links or info on anymore research that has proved successfull with OBE verification.

I think Robert Bruce had some tests done but there was some sort of excuse.. ooops.. I mean reason that he couldn't do it.

Its sad but true that in my last 10 years or so of exposure to this subject, I have not seen even a single experiment that I can confidently say that verified the APs.
Even Tart's experiments are not so solid, IMHO. Any scientific experiment must be repeatable and must be performed by more than one person to qualify as an evidence. Else it merely becomes a claim.

Even R Bruce failed. And I feel he is the most advanced master (who is in public) in this field at this time.

Other reason is that qualified scientists shy away from such subjects and only 'fringe' scientists venture in it, and obviously know nothing about scientific method.
One more reason is, being mostly subjective, APs dont yield to scientific methods. Its a personal journey for most. It must be proven by oneself, no one else can tell you its real. Its strange but true.

Empirical evidence verses just experience. Very tough to hand proof to someone. The point he makes about ,"you cant put information in a bottle". or to paraphrase his explanation, the conscious decoding of that information can't exist in the bottle, it has to be experienced.

But a very cool comment in the first reel, talking about the two researchers having the same experience, establishing and verifying proof to each other, but again, no empirical evidence to satisfy scientific requirements. And the comments about group experiences. AP island potential?

This is a good discussion about "evidence" of the after-life - not easy to measure in terms of a science when it comes to chasing validations.

I have done many experiments, some controlled and not which have yieled results. But a lot of results came to me by 'opening up and accident'. Not being weighed down "prove it to me" attitude. I have documented coincedences, sycroniticies, validation in the last three years and broken this down to these categories:

Does any of these numbers mean anything to you? "No". Taking the time to document "Everything" with the study of OBE from food, sleep, experiences, journals, you name it helps achieve personal validation.

I have been out thousands of times and each experiences is static, environment, common re-occurrences of certain events, tests, methods, practice..

This is difficult for science to control and test but for the person who is keeping a "open mind" but also "logical mind" not accepting the first experiment "as proof" will go farther then just skeptic lack of oxygen hullincinations brought up by stress, the god spot temporal lobe of the brain.

Folks, there's a LOT behind the OBE then changing the channels and wanting instant success. There is a wizard behind the curtain and each tongue calls it "God".

Evidence from experiments by Dr. Charles T. Tart in the 1960's, have shown that OBEs do not occur within a discrete measurable state, and instead can happen in a variety of different states.

His main subject (who he only refers to as Miss Z) was hooked up to an EEG (electroencephalogram, where electrodes placed on the head can measure brainwave activity) and told to project and read a placard with random numbers, which was placed in an opaque folder and positioned on a top shelf high above her.  These numbers were changed every night of the experiment, which took place over four nights.

When she successfully projected out-of-body while in Tart's laboratory she was shown to have had her experience during periods of deep relaxation and heightened awareness, but not exclusively during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which is when most dreams occur. This would seem to suggest that OBEs can occur during REM, but not all OBEs are dreams. 


We also have the evidence in the form of descriptions of those who have been out-of-body. Most interesting, are the OBEs that people have reported while being under general anesthesia, and seeing the surgeon working on them as they floated above the operating table. Since general anesthesia is known to suppress REM sleep, this would also strongly suggest that OBEs are not a byproduct of REM sleep... they are not dreams! 


Near-Death experiences which bear a striking similarity to OBEs, have been reported by patients while unconscious, under general anesthesia, and more interestingly, while clinically dead.  If a person is clinically dead, there is no electrical activity in the parts of the brain that have been implicated for neurophysiologic causes for OBEs. No electrical activity means no memory, no cognitive ability to appreciate the event. Under current understanding, there should be no recollection of an NDE at all! 

The common belief among doctors is that the deprivation of oxygen in the brain during this time is causing the imagery. However not all NDEs occur under such circumstances, and since OBEs are so similar and can happen when the person is in no physical danger at all, it would seem to disprove this theory.


Since the etheric level is close to the physical and is actually a part of the physical plane, the etheric body has actually been recorded in the physical by means of experiments utilizing pk meters. These instruments measure energy, and were placed in front of placards displaying symbols, in such a way that it would be impossible to see that placard without being directly in front of the pk meter. The subjects would project and attempt to correctly identify the symbol.

On the occasions where the symbols were correctly identified, there was a marked increase in the energy reading taken by the pk meter. I do not recall where I once read this, so I can not comment on the validity of these experiments, however if they are true, they could prove that the etheric body can be recorded in the physical plane as a form of energy.


There seems to be a slight but measurable weight decrease of the physical body during exteriorization. Dutch scientists successfully measured the weight of the physical body before, during and after a projection, and found that during the OBE, there was a measurable decrease in the weight of the physical body by about 2.25 grams. They, like Tart also used a control.


There was a case in the United States where a test subject by the name of Alex Tanous (who was able to OBE at will) projected to a different location where a psychic medium named Christine Whiting was waiting to see if she could perceive his presence.  In this highly successful experiment, Alex was able to project to the location, and Christine was able to identify the exact location where he was standing, and even more surprisingly, she was able to describe exactly what he was wearing!  This means that the physical energy of a nonphysical form can be perceived by people who have some degree of psychic ability.
