I have been trying to AP for a few months and haven't had much success despite different approaches and techniques. I can't seem to get past sleep paralysis. Once I try to leave my body I start coming out of the trance and if I try to let my spirit naturally leave i end up falling asleep. Beginners please tell me how you've overcome your obstacles and spiritual masters and teachers please guide me to the right path tell me what I'm doing wrong. Please give me some exercises that will prepare my conscious for the big jump, anything to help me achieve my goal. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

Something worth trying is to read about 30 minutes before you attempt. I've noticed that this primes me for a projection since I've already activated my visualization skills. I've talked with other experienced projectors and many have noticed a correlation.

I'm sure you are familiar with the many different techniques so it's really up to you to have that "a-ha" moment. If you are getting into SP then it's just a matter of allowing some scenario to take hold in your mind and before you know it....

You've got to get good at almost falling asleep, refocusing into the trance, almost falling asleep, refocusing into the trance, etc...  Now if you have had a nap anywhere from 1 to 5 hrs. before you try projecting, this should work very well.  If you haven't had a nap it may be almost impossible to resist falling asleep.  Also, if you're doing an exit technique, make sure that you're not trying to exit too early in the process.  Be patient.  You will loose awareness of you'e physical body.  Good luck!!

Just what I would have said. Nap.

But it seems you are more bothered by the SP... which means you are managing to achieve it. When you are in the state... you are essentially already 'out'. Any action to actively separate is simply a logical metaphor for you to experience because.. well... it seems right that you should have to actively 'leave' your body. This isn't so if you can overcome any belief in a logic that doesn't have to apply in the nonphysical.

Instead of focusing on trying to get 'out' think of yourself as already separated. One great method to employ during SP is to bring your hands up to your face and start rubbing them together.. as you would to warm them up. Blowing on them will increase the anchor and lucidity... before you know it you will realise you are no longer in this physical reality. It doesn't really matter when you attempt this during SP.

This is not only great advice but I think it is necessary to develop this ability if you want to be able and phase instead of projecting from a dream.

It's a fine line that you have to be able to reach without crossing over and falling asleep. Most people will undoubtedly fail and fall asleep many times before they succeed. In an attempt to phase, it gets harder and harder each time you reach that "line" and step back from it. Once you succeed, it naturally gets easier and the time needed to do it shortens but there's always the possibility of falling asleep. However, if you are able to anchor yourself and pull back a few times before falling that occurs, there's a good chance that you will gain your awareness in a dream and project anyways.

I used to place a lot of importance of the way that I projected, i.e. phase or project from a dream, but I no longer place any value over one or the other.

I believed that my OOBE from phasing where less influenced by my sub in comparison to a dream projection but I realized that this was only true because I thought it was. It takes a little bit of "wiping the screen clear" after a dream but that too is as simple as a thought to do so.

A dream is really just a free trip to the astral with no intention required to get there.

Good luck.

I find that is true, IAB.

When I awaken in a Lucid Dream, the scenario or should I say scene is already set. I may change what occurs, but I normally follow the theme, per say.

Now with Phasing, you can either jumpstart it with some kind of activity or just see where it leads and experience anew.

But, you are in total control the entire time, because you are consciously aware throughout the entire process.

Reading is a very good idea. It puts your mind into the books contents and REMOVES you from the physical world around you.
If you want to try a phasing method have a read of this I made.
If I've already mentioned it be nice, I can't recall all my posts, too many.

There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

One story that really kicked me in the '3rd eye' was 'the Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant'. I was reading the trilogy at the time I tipped myself into the nonphysical. I remember that it also kind of made me feel safe because I could relate to the main character.

It was my favourite teacher who gave me the books. Because I didn't get around to reading them at school, she gave me them as I was leaving primary school to go to big kids school. I would love to have told her I was like Thomas Covenant.
