Why all the gimics?

I am new to practicing all this and still dont know what to believe yet.  I think the main reason is because all the gimics/advertisement and then nothing is explained. 

"But my book - take my class - buy this, buy that - spend only this much.....etc"

If this was real, and I could really Astral Project and then figure out what energy is, I would make people buy my book or pay to take a class.  I would do my best to supply all the information I can for free.  I would want others to share and to understand what they can do and experience.  Not sell it and make money of it. 

I understand that to spread the word money will be needed.  But donations, cheaper items, advertisements can help raise money.  Its not that much to maintain a website.

But instead I see gimic after gimic.  The astral dynamics website only give you information to wet you lips.  Even their forums try to limit the amount of information given out to people.  The first few pages you will get when you google will mainly be
"Hey want to learn How?.......buy this and then buy this AND YOU TOO CAN BE A MASTER!!!!"

It seems like something that I would share willingly and help people as much as possible.

Apparently you haven't visited the Astral Dynamics forums part of the site, which is chock-full of free information.  Sorry you have already a notion of what information is 'allowed' and what isn't.

I have invested very little money into having OOBE's. The biggest thing I have invested is time. Alot of people have the mentality that time is money... Well thats their right and their belief and all but I feel that kind of thinking holds one back. My opinion of people that say "well time is money and I dont have the time to commit to this.." are only just looking for an excuse to not put forth the effort to do it. I work 32 hours a week and I still have time to do chores, pay my bills, spend time with my wife and research this and practice exercises, etc. I am getting results because I am investing time and energy into it. You get nothing for free in this universe, if you are low on money then do what I do, take the millions of pages of free information on the internet on forums like this one and blogs and on Scribd and READ. Research it. Pour your heart and mind into this and you will get results. Dont force it to happen, just let it happen - and it will. Try not to have drama and stress in your life. Try not to be a busybody or have an overtly busy life and youll get results. Yes alot of people and companies charge for the exact same info thats free from other sources, you just have to put forth some time and effort into finding it. Dont expect a handout because you wont get much that way.

Well generally speaking,  the New Age Industry has gone down the same road as all other human endeavours so far.... money, greed and egotism. We shouldn't be that surprised.

There are still many in the world who are willing to Share. Many also do what they do as a career choice, so to speak, and therefore we should allow them a living. The only question they need to ask themselves is, "How much do I NEED?" I see many choosing Lifestyle over Service, dressing the part to show their believed superiority, etc. All these things are perfect for now in the world.

Oh I understand about some people going down the wrong path.  It just discourages people looking for answers.  I searched google a few different times to find this site and the dynamics forums.  The first thing you get most of the time is the gimics at the top of the list.  So people trying to find answers just get promotions and basically crap and forget about their interest in it.  I congradulate this site and a few others for giving the information that people want to find.

I guess, there is no harm in buying some books by R Bruce and Monroe, they are priceless, and rest of the stuff is well accessories....
Most of the material which can get you started in totally free and available throughout the net. Like the basics and exit techniques.

And don't forget the library. They have this thing now where I can get online and have a book from any library in the state sent to my local library to check out. I can find pretty much anything now.

My library has all the above mentioned books (which surprised me).  I don't know who ordered them but I'm glad someone around my town reads them.

I understand everything you are saying. Yes it's now an industry. Originally there were only a few authors (Oliver Fox, Sylvan Muldoon, "Yram", Monroe) and their books seemed pretty genuine.  But now it has grown into a huge industry, with authors selling their wares everywhere.  But these days we all have mortgages to pay and everyone has to earn a living.

Having said that, FOR YEARS Robert Peterson and Robert Bruce have published their early works on the internet for FREE, and they still do.  I always admired them for doing this, and this gives them great kudos.

I have found these e-books and others as well.  Put I was very persistant in researching.  For the person who is just curious, they see gimic, gimic, gimic, and they immediatly thing hoax, fake, and stop searching.

I too believe in free knowledge.  And so... I wrote Spirit-Quest   see my siggy for the link.  It's free!  I also provide many more free ebooks (by other authors, all freely distributable) on my website in the library section, as well as a multitude of other resources for free including mp3's with embedded brainwave technology (aka hemi-sync) that I composed myself on my korg triton le music workstation.  And there are many other OBE sites out there besides here and my own site that offer loads of information.  You just have to do a little leg work to find it.
