Hello everyone,

I came across astral projection by chance, I had never known of it until I stumbled across it in a conversation, to say it interested me would be an understatement. It is now an ambition of mine, to learn to astral project. After having done some research, it is not something that comes easily, and dedication is necessary to achieve it.

I am very exited about the prospect of a journey in learning to project my consciousness into other realms, I can't wait to get started. I've looked around on Amazon for books, but there are just so many, I don't know where to start. I am a complete beginner at this; I've never meditated or practised relaxation exercises so I know I have a very long way to go.

I've found a hypnosis CD on Ebay, which is meant to guide the listener into deep relaxation and help project. I know this is no short cut, but would this be a good addition to a book? Here's the link:

I wouldn't waste your money on the CD. There are plenty of free mp3s, brain wave generators, and more on the internet.
As for a book, when I first got into AP the first book I read was Journeys out of the body by Robert Monroe. Now I'm reading his second book Far Journeys which I am about to finish, then I am going to read his third book Ultimate journey.
I enjoy his books a lot and I think they're a good read.

Seems like you're off to a good start and you already know it doesn't come that easy. Just take your time and read some books and just read as much as you can online so you really understand the whole thing

The best info I can give you when you're ready to start practicing, try it in the morning as soon as you wake up. It is A LOT easier then trying to relax your body to that state before going to bed.
There is plenty of info on this on this site and also check obe4u.com or his videos on youtube

The most useful reading for me, in terms of technique, has been the ebook at  http://obe4u.com/ - which is really good (and free), and the Frank Kepple phasing stuff on this site, which can be found here: http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html.
Those two resources in my opinion are far better than all the commercially available books I've read over the years.
If you want to experiment with audio, I'd also recommend the brainwave generator which is quite effective and has a huge number of free presets you can experiment with.

I read Monroes stuff years after I started OOBEing. I don't think you need a lot of crazy stuff to get out of your body. All that hype is a problem I think. The more things you try the farther you get.

What works almost every time for me is a day-time nap with the radio softly playing in the background. I don't use blankets or covers to take my oobe nap. Maybe just up to your waist might work. And lay down backwards in your bed from your normal night-time position. Works really well. The radio will keep you from sinking all the way to sleep... and then you just relax and pop! roll out like a log.

I might try that today shineling since today is cold and boring out anyway. I think the radio would help because even if you do fall asleep the sound may catch your attention and put you in the perfect state to get out
