Practice for OBEs...

Hey no_skillzz,

My advice to you is to try for an OBE, and really psyche yourself up for one. If you succeed then you'll have much more confidence and your motivation will increase as a result.

However, if you do try to project and have no success, then I suggest you try for WILDs (Wake Induced Lucid Dreams) instead... they're easier than conscious OBEs and are fun! :)

Conn

Seriously though, yeah Conn, I've been thinking about WILDs recently. I ordered a book in december, which apparantely places a lot of emphasis on WILDs, but it still hasn't come!

G'day!

As wake induced OBE takes a lot of practice, I suggest you make occasional OBE attempts earlier rather than later. But, you must be prepared to go through with a full obe exit, if this happens.  Many people make the mistake of doing a partial obe exit, to see what its like, and then panic and abort the exit when sensations get too strong. Rapid heartbeat chakra sensations, strong pressures, and strong whole body vibrations can be very intimidating. When I first got these I honestly thought I might be dying.  If you back out during an obe exit, you can cause a psychological flinch reflect to be created. This will disallow you to experience such symptoms again, and makes achieving wake induced OBE much harder.

So, go ahead and make regular obe attempts, as this is good training and will speed your development. But, if you start to exit your body and get strong sensations, be 'fully' prepared to go all the way.

When you first get out, take a quick look at your hands and watch them melt, then dive back into your body 'shouting' your success. Then get up and 'write it down' lest you forget.

Take care, Robert.

Hello,

And what if I had very strong exit sensations a few times and every time stopped it because of that..?
Does it always bring the risk of causing a psychological flinch reflect..?

Because I'm doing OBE attmepts quite often now, and I don't feel anything like it...(but I'm not even close to these sensations - yet I'm _fully_ prepared for them)

And what about an 'I know I can do it' thinking during an attempt..?
'cause this is what I'm doing now...:)

Hey all,

OK this one is mainly aimed at RB, but anyone with ideas is welcome:
Trying to OBE was the first thing (in this massive mystic world) I got into (GCSE level, so when I was...umm...16 perhaps), and being fickle and exciteable I jumped straight in at the deep end (practise shmactise, or so I thought, doh!) and was attempting to get out up to 3 times I day. I got some serious vibrations, but my body really did freak out and I was tense, so no projection. Now whenever I get close to exit (spontaneous usually, from meditation), same happens - heartbeat goes crazy (not heart chakra) and my subconscious mind just seems really unhappy (like, self-repeating thought patterns jump out and grow in intensity many times). I guess this is the flinch mechanism thingy .

Now, what I have decided is that I just need to get my mind used to being in the vibrational phase, decide that OK I (most likely) won't project, but if I just lie there for a few minutes a night with the vibrations my mind will get used to it? Just like learning trance (for me, same happened to a much lesser extent first few times but now I don't even think about it). Methinks my mind is a bit of a wuss!

So the question really is that my conclusion is completely the opposite to yours, but is this just because I already have a flinch going on? And have you got any advice for getting rid of it? Banish? Will try that. Damn, again my problems lie hidden deep in my mind. Have done some CIR on early projection attempts too.

laters!

rOBErt!! (yup, thats kinda spooky! )

You are the Alpha and the Omega. You are vaster than the universe and more powerful than a flaring supernova. You are truly incredible!!

I get regular OBE's, but still don't have control as to when they will happen.  Lately, I suppose I get stuck in the detachment of my body and I vibrate so hard my teeth chatter; I thought I would break them for sure.

So if you back out in the middle of it, your chances kind of get ruined? Cuase that exact thing has happened to me and ive not been able to get back to the stage where I left off. Any advice?

Hey,

I recently bought 'Astral Dynamics' and I need some advice

Every day, I go through the energy work [toe work, sole work, leg work, finger work, palm work, arm work and for about 15 mins I do the full body storage circuit]. I also do the spot focus exs. (page 213), mind taming/breath awareness (page 210/214) and physical relaxation (page 204). If I have the time, I try out the elevator trance exs. (as it seems to work better than the others).

Do you think I should even be trying full OBE attempts yet, or should I wait until I have mastered the mentioned exercises? Currently, my mind taming ability sux... but it's slowly getting better. Are there any other exercises that I should be practicing? There are loads in the book... So I've selected the ones which I think will help me the most.

Thanks for your help.
