Hello Dashour! :D

I have had a little experience with something like what you are talking about.  I was always very concious of my breathing, and I had trouble doing things like meditation/NEW/etc because always a part of my awareness was in my lungs. I don't have any great method to get over this, pretty much I just concentrated on trance work/meditation until I was able to enter that state of no thoughts.  Obviously if you have no thoughts you can't think of breathing. ;)  Anyways, just mainly thought I'd let you know that someone else has had that problem...  Keep at it, it keeps getting more fun the more you progress. :D
Good luck!

My biggest problem with astral projection is the whole breathing thing too. I'm not scared of not being able to breath, it's just that my body  can't fully relax when I'm doing breathing excercises because of my lungs working. The worse part of it all is that when I DO enter a trance state, and the vibrations start, when I shift my conciousness outside my body, I immediatly stop breathing. I can't help it. I try and try not to think of it, or to do the relaxation excercises again and get the breathing back to a rhythm. But the second I try to pull out of my body, my breathing locks up and it snaps me back into the physical. Can anyone help with this???

I have the same exact problem... Im not sure, but I think you have to concentrate fully on what youre trying to acheive at the moment and your physical body will do what it has to... I think...

I think I have an idea that may help all of you. I think the shift of conciousness causes your mind to begin ignoring the breathing process as your projected double is buzzing, about to go free. I think you should pay close attention your breathing, as your doing your awareness shift. This has helped me with alot of "stopped breathing" problems.

yah its usually breathing that keeps me from gaining full relaxation, when you breath on your back, it lifts up the rest of your body and its just sorta distracting for me.

this sounds like a famous problem, it should be written about more, yah?

Hi All,

Dashour - you don't need to worry about whether you will be able to breath when oobe-ing.  when oobe-ing we are projecting consciousness, which does not need air to exist. Your physical body will take care of itself - wait for Robert's book and read the whole thing!

Take care,

Kristen

Fallen Karma, I too have experienced the point of not breathing when I am about to pull out of my body.  I bought Astral Dynamics last Friday at Barnes and Noble.  I am learning a lot and I am reading it slow, to take everything in.  I plan on working hard on NEW, breathing exercises, AP, and other things as well.  I find Robert's word choice extremely easy to understand.  I call it "reader friendly lessons".  Don't give up!

If your focus your life on hate, anger, and regret, it is only your fault for what you get.

I have found myself out a few times very near the physical body. It's a strange feeling when you hear someone breathing behind your shoulder( very close ). It took a little thinking to realize that was ME !! ( My physical). Whenever I'm out I don't really think of breathing or a heartbeat. My first concern is getting as far away from the physical as I can quickly! Like: other side of room, or window.    I used to get pulled back if I stayed too close, due to being excited or emotions.  Then once far enough away, I collect my thoughts and leave the room.

Hmmmm.... I go through phases of this but I usually find it is a sign I am not in a deep enough state of trance... i.e. my mind is distracted by thoughts about not being able to breathe. Trance meditation should help there, as well as looking at your belief systems (aka the BS Cleanser LOL in meditation forum I think) regarding needing to breathe whilst OBE.

Hope that helps,
Donni

Very similar to a problem I also had last night.  I felt very very close, had the falling sensation, the vibrations and a wave of cold and pressure fell over me.  I felt like it was difficult to breath, but that I was really close to buzzing free.  It ended up as an aborted attempt.  :(

HELP! Please!

Every time I get close, I am afraid that once I get out, I will not know what to do about breathing. That scares me.

When you are out, do you "breath"? If not, how does it feel to be conscious, but not breathing? Isn't that scary? That is my fear: being out, but then not having a body, not being able to breath. I have never heard anybody mention this yet anywhere. I have just ordered Astral Dynamics, but it hasn't come yet. Perhaps this fear is discussed in the book?  I am sure if I can just get a grip on that, everything else will be OK. Can anybody please advise me regarding this?

Has anybody else experienced this fear, and overcome it?

Thanks heaps, I'm very excited to have found a place where I can even ask this question.
