Hi,

I need some advice.  So far, I've had two experiences which seem to qualify as "out of body".  Both times, I was having a lucid dream and flying in the dream environment.  Then I told myself something like "Ok, now let's go out of body!".  In the most recent episode, the lucid dream ended, and suddenly I found myself in a different environment, probably my bedroom, but I can't tell for sure.  I experienced this jerky spinning sensation where it's difficult for me to focus on anything.  Everything looks like it's spinning around, but it's not spinning smoothly; it's spinning around in a jerky motion.  I remember recognizing a lamp very quickly.  I tried to tell myself "Go outside!", but I couldn't get outside.  I told myself "Go up through the ceiling!" and I think I saw the pattern on my bedroom ceiling, but I couldn't get up through it.  I told myself "Go to the other side of the house!" but I couldn't really move anywhere and the experience ended.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help me transition to a calm OBE state?  Do you think I'm too excited when I'm in the OBE state?  When I'm transitioning to the OBE state, should I say something more specific like "Now let's go out of body and sit in the yellow chair!" or more calming like "Let's go out of body slowly and come out slowly and keep still once outside."?

To add a little extra information - I've been trying to induce OBEs through mediation techniques with little success so far.  I've become good at remembering my dreams and I've been somewhat successful in having lucid dreams - seven of them so far in the last two months.  So far, what works for me seems to be "dream -> lucid dream -> OBE".  For having lucid dreams, the WBTB technique has worked pretty well, and most of my lucid dreams have been after 5am.

Thanks!
Armen

I've had spinning experiences too and it seems to mean that you're in some kind of vortex and you're making a transition from a place to another, like teleporting. It may work better if you relax, focus, and perhaps close your dream eye (third eye) to refocus or simply get out of an unpleasant dream. Sometimes I think we enter another entity's body in astral projection lol but it's only a theory i made up...perhaps it's only the subconscious mind.

Thanks for your reply!  So maybe I hadn't quite gotten all the way into the RTZ and I was still transitioning.  That actually makes a lot of sense.  I was starting to think that maybe I'd gotten caught in the ceiling fan!  :-D

I'm going to take your advice and relax more.  I'm also going to make sure I'm "all the way" into the next stage (OBE environment).

I don't know why this happens, but wanted to add that I've had the same experience on a few occasions. I was able to stop spinning around the room by reaching out for something to slow my momentum... I used my bedroom wall on one occasion, and my window blinds on another. I've only experienced this in the RTZ, in close proximity to my physical body.

That is excellent advice Mjm!  My first experiences have been excited and frenetic.  The very first time, I looked at my hands and I thought to myself: "Whoa!!  My hands!!".  They were longer and whiter than normal  and had a bluish glow around them.   Thanks for your advice!  I'm going to try to reach out and hold onto something next time.
