I was maybe 32 and under severe stress when I started projecting.

Besides ROPE, you can try what works for me sometimes - Allow your body to fall asleep as you try to keep your mind alert.

What happens for me is that my mind will drift off to sleep along with my body, then will snap back to awareness - this will happen again and again. Eventually when my mind snaps back to awareness, my body is so far gone that I can pull out of it.

I know I'm separating because I can feel myself pulling away from my body. It's like taffy, all sticky as the two parts separate. Sometimes I can see a single body part lifting out of body - and it's clearly not physical, I can see through it or something.

There's lots of variations.

When I'm out, things arent what I expect. Example, usually the experience is much shorter than I would like. things don't always match up to the physical world, and I don't realize it til later, I can't do all the things I expect - like fly, etc.

But it is still really fun, and you will experience your own thing anyway so don't let me get you down. One other technique that helps me is dream journaling. Write down your dreams - every time you wake up, middle of the night or morning, write them down - Your recall will improve and you will start to have more awareness while your body is sleeping.

The big thing is firm committed intent, in my opinion. Be determined, for example, even if you are lying there and sleep seems so attractive - you might think "I'll give up for tonite and try tomorrow" - DON'T. Don't give up. Maintain firm intent to become aware while your body is dead to the world.

also. one more question... approximately how long does it take for the average person (i mean you) to sucessfully pull out of body after the simple relaxation step? i would expect more than 20 mins? ranging by experience and skill, of course

14 years and counting, for me. It is hard to keep faith that it will work some day. There are people here who have been trying for longer than I have. From a couple of experiences which happened in the early 90s, I can tell you that when it happens you will not have to doubt it. Until then, you can get benefits from the exercises leading up to full projection. All you have to do is be aware that other things can show up along the way and watch for them. If you do not keep the possibility in mind, you will think nothing is happening.

i think you can pull off obe in lucid dreaming whatever you do in physical world trickles down to the dream world ie you spend time doing body awareness exercises breathing exercises you will end up in dreamstate doing same thing but many more times sensitive thuse it will help trigger the vibrations and you can walk out of your body assuming you got some of your awareness that you're in your bedroom and you can walk out with no resistance.  You can also try this trick sleep 6 hours wake up then wash your face, stay up for 45mins-1hour then go back to sleep while doing some body awareness exercise or something this may help trigger lucid dream/obe since your mind is fully awake and body is not yet regenerated completely.

Hello there, I bought Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics about a month a ago and am now done with it. and I've always been trying to do a successful projection even before that, but i just cant get it right! I've been trying for months! I can now definetely expand, or raise, my energy body -- I can feel it, that tinkly feeling thats goes bone deep, makes you feel like your expanding but i know i got that down. I think my main problem is the trance part, or maybe the willing yourself out of body...? when I'm deeply ralaxed, i start to see these visuals almost like diffenent shades of black and grey/silver mixing and swirling all together (psychedellic baby) and i can manipulate it if i kep my mind clear I've always wanted to know something... when Bruce talks about "if you have trouble getting body parts out" and so on.. I can for sure feel resistence in areas of my body when stimulating, but how do you know whether certain parts of your body are actually out?? do you see or feel it? man i wanna do this so bad its killing me maybe I'm too young? haha probably not im 16.. how old was everyone they're first experience, how did they do it, and what happened. should i try some OBE inducing drugs? Got any advise besides the rope technique which doesnt seem to work for me..?
