Title: Help not sure what I am experiencing, need some advice please!!
Post by: linzielegs on February 23, 2007, 12:53:23
As a young child right up until my early teens i used to be able to "come out of my body" and travel to other places whenever I chose to and often when I thought I was dreaming. As I grew older I found out that these experiences were probably some type of astral projection given that in my "dreams" I would often travel to be with sick relatives and could then tell my parents to go to them when we didn't even know they were ill or at other times I would choose to go to where my Dad was if he was working late. During all these occasion's I was "connected" to my body by a sort of pinky silvery thread and none of them were scary experiences.
When I was about 13 I had one of my usual night time trips but this one scared the hell out of me i can't remember what happened but didn't ever want to do it again and also at the same time i had some other weird things happening that i couldn't explain. At the time this scared me and so i researched how to stop it and found information about closing my "third eye", I tried the exercises and it worked and nothing strange had happened for years.
Now the new problem!!! Sorry this is getting so long!! I am now 25 and have 18 month old son who has serious heart defects but he is bright and cheerful and has just learnt to walk on his own! My problem is that since he was born I have been starting to get experiences that were similar to my early experiences of astral projection only this time I have been unable to stop them from happening. Then 2 nights ago I had one of the scary ones again which went on for some time but ended with me seeing a dead body lying in some woods half covered by leaves with a tree on the left hand side. It has scared the hell out of me and the image is haunting me.
I don't know much about astral projection but i am trying to learn about it so that I can understand why i ended up seeing such horrible images and to see if it can explain some other strange things at the min. However if any one has any ideas on why I keep going to places that are not real world or if you can tell me how to stop the whole thing i would really appreciate it and I hope someone from this forum with all the experience you seem to have could help me quicker than me reading it in books
I hope some one can help me please!!!

If you want to end an experience that turns frightening just thinking about your physical body and waking up will usually quickly end the experience.  I've had a lot of projections and I've never had trouble waking up when I decided to end it I just turn my attention to my physical body.  However, if you're running into problems during sleep paralysis before you separate from your body that can be difficult to wake up from it.

The only thing that I can think of that might help stop projections from occurring is that you shouldn't interrupt your sleep.  That means going to sleep for a few hours, getting up and staying up for a little, and then going back to sleep.  Most projections occur when interrupting sleep, taking naps, or when you're exhausted.

In order to avoid frightening experiences it's important to realize that in the astral thought is action.  When projecting the external environment is sensitive to our thoughts and can instantly manifest things based on our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.  If you go out of body fearing something like demons then it's likely that will lead to a frightening experience.  When projecting if you let out a fearful emotion it can quickly create frightening circumstances which will continue to get worse as long as you keep letting out fear.

I've found that it's best to expect to have positive experiences.  Try to plan exactly what you want to accomplish so you can keep your focus on that when out and off anything negative.  When projecting it's important to monitor and control your thoughts and emotions and stay passive.  The last few times that I encountered something negative I let out a positive emotion, ignored it, tried to stay calm, and focused my attention elsewhere and it went away.  This almost always seems to work for me.

As for why you had experiences that weren't in the real world that is because astral projections are non-physical and real-time projections are supposed to be in a reflection of the physical world.  What you can experience in the astral seems limitless and during projections you could either be exploring your subconscious manifestations or shared realities.  These are deep topics so if you ever have the time I would recommend reading Astral Dynamics or this:

Thanks for your reply I have gone to the site you recommend and it looks like just the place! have spent the past few days reading lots of different articles and not getting much useful stuff! The difficulty I find is that i never plan to Astral project and so can't plan to make it a positive experience it just happens and always has and in the past something always just took me to the places i needed to be which is what confuses me so much about the scary ones. Anyways I'll try taking more control of the next one and see what happens. Thanks again for the advice

Well, think that most of the people on this board never had an OOBE. You're very lucky and some may consider you're really gifted. :)
Don't waste your talent - explore and develop it. Remember that you can't actually be hurt in anyway during astral projections. Read us much as you can, it will help you realise that there's nothing to fear and it may make you a better person.

I sometimes had dreams when someone (or something) was chasing me, until I read a couple of spiritual books. The I had one dream when I was walking in the forest. I thought that there might be some wolves there and indeed - in the moment I thought about wolves, they suddenly emerged and started chasing me. I started running but I knew they would get me, so I thought "hey, this is just a dream - I can fly". I floated in the air so that they couldn't reach me. My next thought was "If I don't fear them, nothing will happen". I floated down the ground, wolves approached me and... nothing happened. :)

I hope this helps.
I wish you luck :)
