Hello, i'm new to this forum but not to astral projection.
i'll be as detailed as possible to hopefully get some help from veteran traveler's.
have had 3 out of body experiences in the past.
reached the following multiple times :
vibrational state, white noise, thunder, sound of a speeding train going by my head, numbness all over, arm(s) out, leg(s) out, the feeling of being a giant blob of pudding.
My question is how can i separate from my body once reaching these states?
(yes i have spent a few hours a day for a week looking this up. on here and elsewhere. i've seen the faq's and such.)
2 nights ago i was very very close but was afraid to try rolling out of my body or moving a limb as i thought it would be in the physical and ruin the work it took to get to this state.
Started off listening to a guided meditation hemi-sync, began relaxing.whole body became calm, and numb until i couldn't feel it anymore. at that point i worked with my energy body making it bigger. it felt like i was a 10 ft tall man in my bed.
from here (probably about an hour after starting the hemi-sync file) i started to get the feeling of motion sickness. and could feel my arms being out of body.
from there i began to visualize climbing a rope, ripping it up on a dirt bike going off of huge jumps, a giant magnet on my ceiling moving towards and away starting off slow and short to fast and long after a while. but nothing worked! so i then started imagining myself at the beach, somewhere away from my bedroom as perhaps that itself was a distraction? then boom. lights out. woke up the next morning with no obe.
Also how can you stop yourself from having to swallow saliva every5 - 10 minutes? XD i noticed it kept my head anchored while some of my energy body would be out :( and it is very, very frustrating =\
thanks, and i can include more details if needed!
-xTr1gger
p.s - 1 past experience has been from the reality check method and affirmations before going to sleep. ( suppose to be for lucid dreaming yet i awoke out of my body being pleasantly surprised. instead of am i dreaming? would say am i in the astral...? :) )
Quotevibrational state, white noise, thunder, sound of a speeding train going by my head, numbness all over, arm(s) out, leg(s) out, the feeling of being a giant blob of pudding.
There should be no sensation of "numbness". There should be "nothing"! It is a big difference, because the numbness is actually a sensation and nothing is the lack of sensation! Only if you feel nothing, you can start to leave your body properly. But the sensation of nothing cannot be archieved by observing the sensations of the body and waiting for it. You must do something else and should not concentrate on the sensations of the body.

This is right, you must imagine a movement as detailled as possible. If you cannot imagine a certain movement properly you must try another.

You need to think of something else. The swallowing reflex is quite annoying and occours very often shortly before the exit phase begins. But instead of this reflex can also some nasty itching be perceived! Whatever you feel, you need to ignore this, or your relaxation will break. Choose a method, which helps to thing not about the swallowing or itching.

You should have tried to roll out. Just because it may not work for other people does not mean that it will not work for you. It works for me.

Climbing a rope should have worked. There is a time limit to ap. If you wait too long ap can end. If you have tried everything and nothing works then you could force yourself out of your body. When you felt your arms out of your body you could have moved them further out of your body until your whole self is out. It is best to do it quickly.

outzone said it well. Learn to ignore it and the problem will go away.

Hi there Trigger. :) Welcome aboard.

Well, honestly... if you remove the limiting box you've put yourself into which narrowly defines what a "projection" is, then you'll actually see that you've had a lot more than "three" projections. I'm of the opinion that dreams are projections where you simply aren't aware you're projecting.
QuoteMy question is how can i separate from my body once reaching these states?
(yes i have spent a few hours a day for a week looking this up. on here and elsewhere. i've seen the faq's and such.)
This is where I feel that most people are completely and utterly mislead...
Try Phasing... it's a different perspective on projection where you smoothly transition your consciousness from "here" (physical) to "there" (non-physical).
I'm firmly of the opinion that "separation" isn't required... nor possible, because you're not actually IN a body to begin with. So how can you separate from something you're not in?

The entire key to projection is being able to ignore everything physical. Being able to turn off the processing of all physical reality sensory input.
That's it really. That's the key to projecting.
For the saliva problem... do you drink a lot of soda pop? Coke? Whatever?
If so... stop, it's the cause of it. And actually, stop drinking all that sugary crap... LoL Just stick to water.
But apart from that... you simply stop focusing your attention towards it. Any interruptions like that... like an itch, just slowly take care of it and go back to what you're doing. You should be able to move slightly as long as you do it calmly and slowly and not break whatever state you're in. There's no point in fighting something like that, because whatever you're fighting will *ALWAYS* win out.

With ap there is no right or wrong. There are people who think this is this way. Someone else says no, it is that way. Everyone thinks differently so that is why we experience things differently. No one will think the same. I am of the opinion that we do have an inner self. I have got out of my body many times. I have felt my body parts floating out of myself. I do not ignore my physical body. I have felt my body being different and I have ap many times.

There should be no sensation of "numbness". There should be "nothing"!
i got this those few nights ago!!! *facepalm* should have tried rolling out. :(
good tip i'll be sure to remember this for the next attempt!

a quick question about the rope method.
while climbing do you imagine yourself climbing through the roof, or...?
with this method i visualize then climb up but in 4-5 grabs im at the ceiling, but most awareness still in body :(
would it be better to imagine the ceiling as an infinite darkness with rope / infinite climbing until out?
and thanks that was a big help didn't know there was a time limit. a lot of attempts i would be trying to do it slowly.

Thanks for the welcome good to be here :)
I'll look up phasing tonight and see if it's any different from my current methods.
actually tried the OBE inducer timer last night... within a millisecond of hearing the voice rolled to the side violently and flopped. and well... my face hitting the floor says i wasn't out of body. XD
auto programmed the roll out technique just a little to fast forgot to leave room for actually laying still. LOL
"stay completly sti-----ROLL OUT" *Thud*
with turning off all / most of the physical input though how do you keep yourself aware, with a mildly stimulating task like breath counting?
as for drinking, 9 months sober now and don't drink pop. usually just water and juice.
but i do Vape electronic cigs (trying to cut back on smoking) which can leave you dehydrated at times.
And oh ok. so attend to it without focusing on it.
swallow spit without thinking of it as having an impact on the obe practices :) cool.

everybody has different ways of what works for them ya.
but for someone who is having a hard time with it, it is nice to hear input from experienced knowledgeable people.
It's not like at this moment i can be like "Hey this works for me!!!" as i am not there yet.
and as i can stay strong in my belief's and be able to change them while putting my mind into the perfect mind set of fully believing in them, any method becomes worth a shot.any belief, becomes worth a try. until something clicks within and the projection is achieved.
what makes up beliefs? evidence put together in your mind on what you see fit.
when dissecting it you can really change it to anything. as we are creatures of habit if you study that belief and focus your intent on it after a while that belief becomes your own, as if you had it your whole life.
i guess you can say it's similar to a song you hear on the radio. at first you may hate it, detest it. but after listening to it for a while you grow to love it!

Thanks for all the input guys! going to take some notes. was going to try to project tonight but looks like i have work tomorrow >.< next day off and it's another attempt! :-D
Sometimes I wonder if I just posted something like, "MY WAY IS THE ONLY WAY!!"... and only that... how many people would realize I was joking. ROFL

I could see some astral noobs doing that
a lot of us have probably been there in the beggining. i was. got a book by robert monroe and followed it religiously. until finally getting a computer lol
and for the most part people should already understand "With ap there is no right or wrong. There are people who think this is this way. Someone else says no, it is that way. Everyone thinks differently so that is why we experience things differently."
though i'm not sure how many times he has copy and pasted this already...
got a reply in another topic that was the exact same thing. he didn't read any of the topic just copy and pasted. to get "astral points" i guess?
glad he read this one enough to reply though

I think you are a good person Xanth. You did not get upset with what I said. I was a bit afraid to post it. Some people can attack you if you do not agree. As I said, no one is right. I know that you do not think your way is the only way.

From my way of doing it, you may be different as I am learning people have their way of doing it, you do not have to feel or see the rope. That is not a requirement. You imagine you are climbing a rope. It does not have to be a rope. It could be anything. You know when you are out of your body when you feel like you are moving, just like you are physically moving. It feels very real. It is a great feeling. You may not be able to see very well but that does not matter. All you have to do is say, I can see now. About the time limit, do not rush it as the mind has to be relaxed. There is plenty of time. If you think you wrecked it, still try again. Stay still and stay calm. You may be surprised that it worked. When you are doing a technique do not think about your body or your partner next to you. Once time I was about to ap and I was thinking about my husband next to me. That ended the ap.

Oh sorry i was calling you he instead of she. my bad lol
hmmm... if sight isn't paramount then infinite darkness it is!
rope climbing is a something I'm unfamiliar with so will probably go with a ladder instead...
there was this one exercise about climbing down rather then up. counting each rung as you go, and with each step you take it becomes more and more vivid and real. (guided meditation but could be done without it if you can convince your mind easily enough) imagining the feel of the steel, while periodically switching in some rusted bars to stimulate different textures and keep you focused.
as for the vision problems when out of body, found rubbing my eyes to be easier :)
I'm surprised you can Ap with someone laying next to you , good job.

For anyone else reading this wanting help with seperation found something that may be useful
Step Seven:
Dissociate yourself from the body. Monroe suggests two methods for this. One method is to lift out of the body. To do this, think about getting lighter and lighter after entering the vibrational state. Think about how nice it would be to float upward. Keep this thought in mind at all costs and let no extraneous thoughts interrupt it. An OBE will occur naturally at this point.
