Yea, just like the title reads, I was almost there.

I've been reading Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics every night.  I generally go to "bed" earlier than usual so that I have more time to attempt a projection/OBE.

Whenever I try this, there is usually always the sound of the T.V. on downstairs (sometimes I wish I still lived alone) so that's always in the background.  Though, I am learning to cope with this.  Last night was the night that I came the closest to deliberate OBE.

I went through the normal stages of relaxing the mind and the physical body.  After a while, I received the first signs of Trance/Body Asleep.  I decided to really focus on the rope technique.  Like I do every night, I see through my mind's eye (trusting that my physical eyes are closed) but I only see straight ahead.  I have tried to look around the room without actually moving my head but haven't accomplished this yet.

Anyways, I received a bit of vertigo, REM and slight vibrations with a touch of rapid heartbeat.  I kept on climbing the rope, even gritting my double's teeth and feeling what would be felt if my physical self was actually climbing this rope with all my might.  While doing this, I felt and made sure that my physical muscles were not tensing and I was not gritting my physical teeth.  While doing this, I was still coherant to the T.V. in the distance.

After a little bit of doing this, I felt a more severe sense of vertigo, more heavy rapid heartbeat and could feel very, very heavy vibrations.  To top it all off, I started feeling the energy surge.  I could feel myself coming out!

I've known about the random sounds you hear upon leaving your physical/etheric body; pops, crackles, birds chirping etc.  While coming out, I heard a pop but it was very, very loud!  Since it was the first time I actually heard something like this, it did in fact make me jump in my bed a little (I could feel myself twitch) and it broke my concentration.

This was very exciting and shows me that I'm getting better and better at this.  I just wanted to share this with you guys.

I'm getting there!
