There was an article I read on AP a while ago, I forgot who by - Possibly C. Godin - that stated that most people interested in APing couldn't tell you why the idea fascinated them so much.

I agree. Ever since I first encountered the concept, I've wanted to do it. I can give all sorts of reasons for why, but none of them are the real reason - just 'fringe benefits'.

Yes, I want to be able to visit mystical realms. Yes, I want to be able to fly. Yes, I want to be able to enter dreams whilst wide awake and lucid. Yes, I want to meet non-human spirits.

But in the end, none of those possibilities are what really make me interested in AP. They're "as well as" reasons. It boils down to: I want to AP because I want to AP. I have no specific reason. It's just something I truly want to be able to do.

I think the reason people are so drawn to astral projection or anything else for that matter is a search for answers and for those lucky enough to stumble on to something as dynamic and all in-grossing as an obe the temptation to "find" these answers in this new arena must be heavy.  Im not saying answers do not abound in the astral, answers like easter eggs can be found anywhere.  I will say that its my opinion that most answers, the most important ones, come from within and can be stimulated by many things both inside and outside yourself.

My motivations come from my explorer nature.  I don't have enough money to fully explore the world I live in, but it doesn't cost anything to explore astral realms

Because for me it's a huge part of life that i have been ignorant of for nearly my whole life so far, and so i won't to integrate it into my life and balance it out with my physical life so i can learn more, understand more, and grow more.
It's all about that finding answers to questions as well that everybody has tapped into it seems [)]

It's kind of funny but when I first started to search for out of the ordiniary ideas, I googled anime and Dbz. Yeah.... I know.

It did intrigue me by watching these shows that it could be possible to do more things with your body. I was like "Wouldn't it be cool to fly and to TK and do ki blast." It may be a kiddish idea but those were just my starting point to explore astral and metapyschial things.

I am very glad I did this though. I don't have too much fun in life, and this his kind of stuff as helped out my self confidence and know that I have no limits and can do anything If I put my mind to it. Even flying!

Lets not forget that for many of us it's not a matter of "wanting to."

When I started having spontanious projections I resented it a great deal and saw it as an intrustion and inconvenience.

With every new friendship or relationship I have to "come out of the closet" and explain to this person that my soul leaves my body and communicates with otherworldly beings.

Some find it interesting, but many doubt my sanity. I have had one man leave me altogether, which was painful because at the time I believed I was in love.

I have come to accept this blessing/curse. But some days it is still very hard. There are some people you just can't tell. It's a lot like being homosexual that way.

we are all interested in astral traveling if we believe.
I know that astral traveling can be done. I am certain.
why? when i was younger i accidently had an out of body experience.
It was strange, I however floated about 6 feet above my body and stuck above my body. I remember screaming but later came to learn that it was in my head that i was screaming. I believe because i was so frightened be the experience , was the reason it only lasted for a few moments.I want to be able to control this power. I ve had other experiences thats were simular but nothing ever like this. I am here in this website to find someone who can help be achieve my goal. I have an idea on how I can do it. BUt it takes a certain time, in which it can be done. If anyone is interested in what i have to say on how its done, feel free to ask. but its takes total control of mind and u must have no fear at all. These i lack.

Sometimes it feels you're trying something you shouldn't... cause is not "natural", know what I mean?
Weird that some people do it without even trying... well that's what u read anyway...others try and only after LOTS of "training" they succeed

The thing is "our" people are growing in number... would that be a start of evolution?  I mean only in this forum there are 6000...not everybody does it but they are trying, not to count other people on the web that are elsewhere...etc

 I was just going to say I believe we astral project because it is a part of our evolutionary process. I like to think of it as the start of our "evolution of awareness", and we are some of the beginers:) Although this has been happening for centuries to people it is still 'new' in evolutionary time, which are devided up into eras and such. Although, pretty soon we wont need this terminology of time once we 'project' to our next evolutionary step, another dimension of space and evergy! ISnt it crazy to think about!!! I think we are begining to fathom the possiblities of our existence!

my motivations for OBE/astral projection are:

*gaining knowledge about the true structure of conciousness and the 'multiverse'.

*moving beyond the pettiness and the dross of human society,to a higher way of existance.

*using knowledge gained in a postitive way while here in the physical

I think the reason why I am so interested in Aping is the magic in it, to get that feeling back as a child where I thought anything could happen, There was things that made us as children belive that there is truly something magnifasent and magical out there that can make our dreams come true. like am man flying all over the world in one night to bring us what we always wanted to a fairy that would bring us cash for a tooth. It might sound corny but getting that feeling back would be the gratist thing for me.

Hi there!

First of all... it's great to know that so many people that share this great (out of the ordinary) idea! [8D]
I just signed up to this forum today so a bit of a newbee though the thought of wanting to have an O.B.E has been with me for 11 years now... so I wonder there must be a reason for this...I must not give up my dreams... never will!
My question to u guys is... what are your motivations... your goals, what answers do u seek?

* I no longer want to act so stupid as I do sometimes... I wish to realize the true meaning of life...

* I wish to be able to help others either fysical or not and so become and do what I'm not allways able to in the fysical plane

* I wish above all to meet my father/mother wich I feel is God, though I feel that God is scattered into peaces wich we are a part of..

* I wish to learn from all this and use it in a positive way while I am here on earth

* Above all I wish to be happy and be myself all along!


I hope some of you can share your goals with me and maybe one day we meet out there... I think we could bound an eternal friendship and maybe discover we allready know eachother []
