Hitting A Roadblock

So I've picked back up on my attempts at projecting lately. Out of about 10 attempts I've reached 2 that were very close, I think, but I've hit the same roadblock on both those attempts. Here's whats happening:

I wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I get back into bed and get into a comfortable position. I usually either choose to focus on breathing or focus my eyes towards the center of my forehead. I find these two methods are the best way to keep myself conscious and awake. All the usual happens i.e. itching, tingling, etc etc. I eventually go completely numb where it feels like the only thing that is a part of me are my eyes. I can almost feel as though my consciousness is lifting out and moving up away from my body. Here's where the roadblock is. At a certain point in this numb lifting feeling, my eyes lids begin to shake and move very rapidly in what almost feels like my body trying to force them open. Soon after, my eyes begin to water and I have no choice in opening my eyes.

Its pretty frustrating because I'm literally at the point where I am experiencing the most insane sensation I have ever felt in my life, which I'm assuming is the beginning of a projection.

Have you guys experienced this before? If so, any tips on getting passed it?

 Hello

Try searching the word "Mindfold" in the Forum search engine at the top right hand corner of the page here. Do it from the Forum "Home" page, otherwise you will only get a search from the Sub-Forum you are currently in. There you will find that many people, including myself, that had this problem as well.

In the threads you will read through the search engine, you will find different ways to rectify this problem.

But in the end I found this to be a "self initiated" block, kind of a test of sorts, to see your willingness and determination to overcome it. It can and will be beat, that's if you are willing to "confront" and overcome these circumstances.

Good luck!  :-)

Awesome! Thanks so much for shining a light. I appreciate the understanding for my lack of forum etiquette. I'm not too well versed on the technically side of projecting or else I would have used the search. Thanks again!

Your Welcome!  :-)

I just wanted to help you to avoid problems that i had when I was new here as well, like navigating this Forum in general .

But as I said, this can and will be beat. You just have to find the way that works for you. Sometimes all it takes is a good "heart to heart" conversation with your "Higher Self". Meditation will help you with that!

Yeah this has happened to me. Eyes opening up automatically at some point near sleep paralysis. Physical distractions may indicate that your concentration is on the wrong thing. Sitting still inside your body so to speak is a sure fire way to get into sleep paralysis, but you also seem to be maintaining an acute awareness of what your physical body is doing. This is unlike the state of mind you take when your goal is to fall asleep.

The way you treat your eyes should be the same way you treat every other sense which you are not paying attention to - the feeling of the blankets on your skin, air going through your body, any noises that may be present. Personally I don't have much success with 3rd eye focus techniques because they keep me rooted on my physical eyes too much.

with all those sensations I think you hit Rem sleep, no need to get past it, just attempt an exit, since the body numb as well, you pretty much there. its at this point we all forget what to do next, because of the excitement
