Hi Clark

Welcome to the forum! I think you were successful in having an LD/AP because you did several important things. You had a strong INTENT to do it which I believe is the crucial ingredient. You say you "sincerely wanted to have such an experience" and the results speak for themselves.Another good move was "asking for clearance."By doing that you consciously tried to control your environment and "things changed".This is the point where it became more than a lucid dream;you were no longer a passive observer but a participant.

I think you`ll do great!Try reproducing that last experience, keep reading, and let us know how it goes.

Happy Trails

I had a similiar experience the other night. I went to bed very angry, but before I fell asleep I kept saying to my self "im going to ap, im tired of this crap, I just want to fliping ap already, everybody else can why the hell cant I". While im saying these things in my head I can feel energy just pouring into my feet. However I fell sleep, but to my suprise I awoke into this blackness of my mind. I felt this sinking feeling like I was being sucked down, and I didnt like that feeling because I symbolise sinking with lower realms (stupid fears). So however that subsides and I feel a pulling on my legs and I was like "ooohhh im going to ap cooool cmon cmon". I could see alot colors in the blackness, very pretty stuff. But just as I thought I was going to leave my body I woke up into sleep paraylises, and I know its nothing to be scared of, but just that shock for a second of not being able to move was enough for me to break out of it. Then I got up for little bit got something to drink, went back to bed and woke up with sleep paralysis again and for a second time broke out of it "geeerrrr". If I would just let it take its course I probably would of had an obe.

So I guess a strong will to do something can realy effect the outcome. Im just starting out with this stuff aswell, so sorry I cant realy give any advice but my story.[:)]

Good luck on your journey [:)]

I have been reading up on some OBE forums and websites, and I have a question for all of you. I understand that sharing the significance of 'dream symbols' or events is discouraged, so I will try and be as general as possible.

Yesterday I was reading about astral projection and whatnot and I decided I was going to test it out that evening. Unable to relax or concentrate enough to get even close, I fell asleep. Granted, I know little about such practices and have only meditated sparingly.

Sometime early in the morning, I remember realizing I was dreaming. I did not pop into lucidity from an odd occurance or something that would make me question if I was dreaming or not (atleast I don't think I did). I think it was from telling myself earlier that I wanted to try it (very much so). I remembered the advice from someone to ask for a higher being to clear my dream images. I had this thought going to sleep so that might have been what made me ask it during my dream. I also sincerely wanted to have such an experience, which probably helped.

I asked for the clearance (I don't remember speaking verbally), and things changed (faded away). I do not want to elaborate for fear of this help not coming again.

Anyways, I then began to float and be PULLED higher and higher. I remember being excited and scared at the same time. Soon I was almost out of what I would say was the atmosphere, and I began to resist. I could not go down, even though I didn't really want to, I was just in awe. I don't want to say what happend after that, but much of it was hazy.

My question is, what was this? A lucid dream, or something more? Whats the difference?

I have always had lucid dreams randomly and only recently have I began to understand what they are, and how to have them more often. I just read somewhere that flying dreams generally are OBEs. The vast majority of dreams that I remember (I'm talking 90% here) are flying dreams. I havn't had (or remembered) a nightmare since I was 7. I have weird dreams, that I realize are potentially scary, but I never FEEL afraid. What does something like that mean?

Are OBEs stronger when done by consciously falling asleep, or is projecting form the dream state just as viable? Sorry for the slew of questions.. This stuff is simply captivating and I havn't wanted to learn so much about a subject, well.. in a while.

Anyone have any thoughts? :)

Thanks,

Clark
