Title: How do you get past the discomfort?
Post by: ralphm on March 03, 2003, 20:50:22
have you tried moving energy through whatever spot is affected, like the NEW techniques? I guess I have experienced something like this, sometimes when i try to relax into a trance I go into an area that is very uncomfortable.

i too have had this problem.  Although i get an almost uncontrollable urge to move my body.  This feeling seems to come from my chest. Although i dont know if im explaining it very well.

ralphm -  i do not know much about NEW.  Though i will certainly look into it now.

Amber, make sure you are not attempting to OBE or meditate when you are tired, because this can often cause my feet to get like you say, except that it's worse than a tingling.

amber,  i  find  breathing  is  the best way  to relax,  i  dont  do  all that  "body-part-relaxation"  thing  because it never  works  with me...

so,   with  each  in  breath,  i  focus  on  my  abdomen,  and on  the  out  breath  i  focus  on  my  chest deflating,   now  during  this  deflation as i  focus on  my chest,  at  a specific part of  the exhalation  i  will feel  incredibly  relaxed  for a split  second until  then next time i  exhale....

does  that make sense??

basically,  on the exhale focus  on  your  chest,  around  the heart area.

its  really helping me  to  attain  the trance  state.

amber, what you are experiencing is an energy blockage. they i get past these is (using NEW) provide extra pre-stimulation on the areas of blockage. also concentrate more on the secondary energy centers. what happens is your secondary centers are not developed enough to support your primary energy work. hope this helps.

I admit that I do try to project when I am tired. And I will usually fall asleep and wake up sometime later during the process of separation, barely remembering it the next day.

I am not familiar with NEW, if someone would point me in the right direction, I would love to read about it.

Rodentmouse, I tried to focus on the other energy centers, like womb or solar plexus, but the restlessness of my feet gradually starts to distract me and it becomes a struggle.

Kampersdream, when I do the energy center work, I 'open' the lower ones, at my toes and calves, then I go to the chakra at the base of my spine, the womb, the solar plexus, between the shoulder blades and my throat and the third eye and crown of my head. Which ones are the secondary centers?  Thanks so much for the advice, guys. I am glad I am not the only one with this roadblock.

NEW techniques are taught in Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics book.
If you are lucky you might be able to buy a signed copy ;)

I think I am also suffering from some sort of blockage, i'm experiencing similair difficulties with the upper left side of my back.  During meditation I can't relax it, everywhere else I usually have no problems.  When using NEW on the area, it becomes unbearably painful and I have to stop.  It is like strong heat, very sharp pains.

Even during last night's OBE when I moved further out of body it began to hurt more and more, I knew that my back wasn't relaxed enough because I felt the pain even more strongly during the OBE state.

It used to be my solar plexus and my heart area which were affected, a few months ago I had the same pains and discomfort there.  Sometimes now the pain even moves up into the left side of my neck and left shoulder, it's never as strong when it reaches there and seems to always move back down.

After all I have read and experienced, I am still left unsure on the cause and why it is so painful when I try to analyse it with N.E.W.  I don't want to experiment too much because i'm afraid I may make things worse.
The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with me, and neither can I.  The closest thing I can think of is Kundalini problems, but I have heard it is very rare indeed to experience that.  I am left very puzzled.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Kundalini is a natural part of our life, it is the life force that runs through our body.  If you are referring to massive serges of knowledge due to the kundalini, that is usually experienced when all 7 major chakras are open and aligned.
All i could suggest is to slowly use Robert's technique of bouncing your point of awareness through your blocked area, maybe draw some energy through it, but slowly, if it hurts, stop, and try later, don't push it.
Eventually the bouncing should get easier and the same for drawing energy through it, hopefully the pain will stop...fingers crossed [:D]

Ok, I lay down to attempt OBE, I do some energy center opening work and then systemmatically start to relax each part of my body one by one. I start to get a tingling in my feet, but not a pleasant tingle, an uncomfortable sensation. Like the same feeling as when someone points their finger at your third eye area, it's like the area itself has an awareness that extends beyond your skull and is 'feeling' the finger pointing at it. It's uncomfortable.
Anyways, I start to get it in my feet, mostly my right one and it travels up my calf and it becomes so unbearable that I have to repeated shake my leg to get it to go away. Then it starts in my hands and my forehead and the top of my head. Eventually, I get so frustrated with this sensation, that I spend more time undoing all the relaxation than I do actually relaxing. It's been happening for the last year or so, but in varying degrees each night. When it's too uncomfortable, I just turn onto my side and go to sleep, giving up entirely.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Should I be doing something in particular, like breathing or just bearing with it? Is this common?
Thanks in advance for any responses...
Amber
