Hi All,

Many years ago I came across the book The Art and Practice of Astral Projection by Ophiel.

This book was written -I think- in 1974 and I would like to ask those who have read it how close -or how different- Ophiel's techniques are to the other AP/OBE experts such as R. Monroe, R. Bruce, W. Bhulman, etc.

Are the 'modern' techniques any different -or even any better- from the ones by Ophiel & Sylvan Muldoon's?

I'd like to start reading and learning something about AP/OBE and wonder whether having a look at the 'classics' would still be of any help or, all the contrary, would confuse me even more...

Thanks in Advance,
Neo

Hi NeoInAstralWorld.

I've never read that book by Ophiel, but have read many books written throughout the 20th century. Even though some points are contradictory between different authors, I believe that all these books have things to be gained from. One of my favorite Authors/Clairvoyants is Rudolph Steiner who wrote his material from the late 1800's into the 1920's, and I've probably had the majority of my self-development from those teachings. However, I've also gained a lot of things from Monroe and Bulhman (and even the Bible). I started reading Robert Bruce's "Astral Dynamics" a couple days ago and have really been enjoying it.

I don't think you can learn too much - as long as you don't believe everything you read.

Hi Stookie,

I read once an article about Steiner, he was amazing; would you mind explaining about your self-development following Steiner's teachings/philosophy?

Do you mean I should believe everything I read?

I think he means you shouldn't believe much of what you read :). Take it in as knowledge, but don't put faith in it as a 'fact'.

MisterJingo is correct. I should have phrased that differently. You shouldn't believe everything you read.

Basically, it's a method living life. Not just meditation and inner work, but also ways to live and percieve the outside world. Steiner set up a guidelines for a persons self-development, sans a teacher. It's more complicated than straight OBE work (and slower), but enriches every aspect of life and perception.

If you are interested, "How to Know Higher Worlds" is a great book to start with. But I definitely don't knock any of the newer authors, they're great too. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
