How Long did it take until you had your first OBE? And how
long have you been projecting?
I searched the forum and the search function wasnt working
for me so pardon me if this thread was already made before.

For myself... a very very long time.  LoL
From the first point when I first discovered Astral Projection (around 10 years ago) to the point when I had my first actual Projection... probably 6 - 8 years?
But, keep in mind that for me, practicing wasn't an everyday occurrence.  It was an off and on thing within that time period.
Real life creeps up when you least expect it to... and sidetracks ya.  :)

Keep to it and I'm sure you'll see success much sooner than I.  ;)

Considering the fact that your working on something that you will use for the rest of your
life...10 years dosent seem so bad :)....Ive been doing it on and off for about 3 or 4 years
and ive only had one....but i now believe it was a lucid dream. I get the vibrations now and my heart
races and i feel like its not gonna work because im over excited....but thats a topic for
another thread. Thanks for the reply! :)

My best suggestion to you is don't over analyze any experience you have.  :)
Just accept it and make it part of you.

I did it (as a young child) before I knew what it was.
ps. I recommend you ignore the search function on the right, and go to the tab marked search. (home-help-search-profile...etc)  This will give you options for keywords.  The 'quick' search always gives me no results the first time, so I don't use it.

Just to add another story, I've been trying to lucid dream for over 20 years, but never approached it in a sustained, systematic way.  In my 30's I had frequent bouts with sleep paralysis without realizing it is the ideal state to jump off into an OBE.  In all those years I can remember being lucid only a handful of times and recently I had a full blown OBE (multiple projections).  For the last three months I researched the topic in depth and have used multiple techniques, both to induce lucid dreams and also OBE's.  I managed the OBE after 46 days of daily practice and have had sleep paralysis five times in that same period, but none of those resulted in full separation.  Dreaming has also become much more vivid, at times on the very threshold of lucid.

The point is this - it can be done!  The trick is to keep up the intent and practice daily.  If you naturally experience sleep paralysis then that is a bonus since that is the very threshold of projecting.  What you do when you are awake is just as important as what you do when trying to project at night - find a technique that fits you best and stay with it.

Thanks for all the encouraging words! :-D

I had my first experience about 2 months after hearing about OBE's for the first time on youtube just browsing videos.

Now I've been doing them for about 2 years and have had more then 10 but less then 20 experiences. Forget how many exactly. I don't write them down like I used to really.

Hi all

My experience with OBEs is similar to CFTraveler. I had many (not sure how many) OBEs as a child and preteen. Then that ability simply went away when I was in high school.

In terms of consciously deliberately inducing OBEs as an adult, it took between two and four months from the time that I first began trying to the time that I deliberately projected out of body.

Hm, took me about...A year, although I looked into this first as lucid dreaming, came back about 5 months later and looked into OBE's so probably about...4-6 months? Only had one OBE and I know why. I had summer holidays, for three-four weeks solid I tried to astral project, reading these forums before I went to bed at a suitable time, eventually after trying in the morning and night I had my first, it lasted for merely seconds but was intense! Have not had another yet, but personally it's about consistency and doing it densely. Sadly I don't have the time during the week to have a 2-3 hour lie in, in the mornings.
Do by not Doing.
