How to tell if I'm entering OBE from SP

Hello Guys,

I'm a pretty new astral traveler here but I think I'm slowly gaining ground. I've been frequenting into sleep paralysis lately as a middle ground to make my way into OBE. What I've been doing is trying to stand up or walk around after I enter the very terrifying SP. I have managed to do so a couple of times but when it does actually happen I seem to loose most of my awareness and things become very dreamlike. Things are also very short and reality is extremely distorted. I'm not sure if I'm just lucid dreaming at this point or if I have actually entered a low evel of an OBE. I did manage to turn around and see myself sleeping after standing up from a SP episode once. But my room looked very different, and I wasn't able to think or see the same as I had been when I was in my SP state. Anyways, some thoughts on how to enter the OBE from SP would help. Or anything of the matter. Thanks.

When you say lose your awareness, do you mean that you have attempted separation and have somehow entered what appears to be an OOBE-like dream where you are wrapped up in the narrative and don't realise how crap it was until you phased back out of it?

I sometimes and quite frequently experience a dual nonphysical awareness... where I am separated and have a dreamlike OOBE running alongside the actual OOBE. This is distracting and in my experience has something to do with the level of clearness when entering the SP.

If your SP is scary then you are entering it with a lot of baggage.. i.e. subconscious imagery. Maybe you wake into SP instead of entering it directly from waking state, before you actually go to sleep.

How I got around this is to not actually employ a floaty outy separation. Now I simply intend myself to be in the nonphysical. But when I started out I used to employ a trick of rubbing my hands together (nonphysical hands) and blowing on them... it works well with others... because apart from the fact that I know this from teaching people... It's also been published by other OOBE practitioners since I wrote about it about 4 years ago.

What this will do is basically get your awareness operating outside of your physical self rather than making you go through a 'separation'... which is an illusion anyway.

Another way is to while in SP... imagine something in your hands like a ball or a mobile phone or something you are familiar with. When you feel it, which you will, you are successfully integrated into your nonphysical state.

Try to forget an active separation process... as this obviously doesn't work for you at the moment.

I need to get better at throwing away the mentality of needing to "separate" from myself... Maybe it's because of all the hustle and bustle about it and my undying need to make things more "real", "concrete", or dare I say it "measurable".

Just to enjoy it and let it be... It's still a wild ride, but at least it'll be more enjoyable.

Just relax and let what's going to happen happen.
Take to the sky, feeling so alive! Past the clouds to the Milky Way, share our secrets with the starry brigade. The stars surround us like a million fireflies. For once I see infinity... it's in your eyes.

Kind of.. I think I pretty much realize it's pretty crappy when I'm doing it though. It's definitely an OBE though, I've done it a few more times sense then though and now I've gotten the hang of flying around my house but I can't seem to exit it.

Yes my sp is usually very scary... and yes I seem to wake into it as oppose to entering it from a waking state. So i should try and enter it directly and that should reduce the "baggage"?

Okay cool I will try that technique next time.

Hey one more question. I'm still having trouble getting past the fear factor of entering into my OBE's. Do you guys have recommendations for getting past this barrier? lately i have just been trying to emanate love as soon as I enter my SP and it has been (reducing or at least making the bad guys not as scary)

Just KNOW that there is nothing in the Astral that can hurt you.

When I used to first attempt, the last thing that happened before I was successful is I either had very strong heart palpitations or a fear that I couldn't breathe.

The way I got over these myself was by telling myself, "it's either all or nothing". Meaning that I was going to project come hell or high water.

You really need to have a mindset that if I don't return, so be it. That's the only way to confront your fears.

After a couple of successful journeys, you find that this is indeed correct and because of this, you will never have that problem with fear again.

Also, if something does occur that frightens you while Aping, you can easily return to this physical existence/focus with just a thought!

A welcomed "fail safe" indeed!  :-)

I'm watching this post with interest as I also wake into SP then keep going back into it over and over again. I can never get any further. All I get is blackness and the thoughts of not being able to breathe and fast heart rate. It doesn't matter how much research I do, my mind always goes blank when I wake to SP as fear takes over. Any help?

There's nothing to fear. You have to get past this as all have done.
Relax and accept the racing feeling as part of the process. Once ignored you'll go further. You are at a vital point and success is so close.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Invite the feeling. SUURRENDER to and ALLOW it to occur.

This is your first official "fear test" and if you can't confront it head on, it will be your last as well.

Just know that you project every night, but aren't consciously aware of it.

The only thing that has changed is that now you are consciously aware of the process.
