last night i woke up from a dream and was still in a very restful(*trancelike*) state so i decided to attempt to project. i started using the rope technique until i felt  a slight shift of myself out of my body. however i didnt see anything. also it didnt last very long.afterwards i felt like i was dreaming and i felt like my physical body rolled off the couch even though when i finally was finished with everything i realized my physical body went no where.  was the whole thing a hallucination or was the slight shift i felt an actual OOBE?

sounds like the makings of an OBE.

have you projected before?

when you first start projecting (especially through trained conscious exit) it can be tough to really get going.  a lot of first experiences are just an odd sensation of slight separation and maybe some weird noises or colors.  i'd say keep at it.
be awesome.

i projected before once like 7 years ago but it was very short (floated above my body, could see my room). my memory of it is so vague that sometimes i doubt that i even actually projected.

Yeah that was definitely a projection.  If you can keep focused it will last much longer.  good job

First, think about what you're asking... then ask us "What is a hallucination?".  In my opinion, a hallucination is a Focus 1 / 2 overlay experience.  Basically, you're SEEING and EXPERIENCING your non-physical subconscious being projected within your physical reality.  An OBE/AP is the exact opposite of that.

So, let me start off by explaining my belief on the consciousness continuum... we exist EVERYWHERE within the continuum simultaneously.
You definitely projected your consciousness to elsewhere in the consciousness continuum... however, you were also still aware of your physical body, hence you feeling it had subjectively moved.

But I'll go with Personalreality's advice... it was definitely the makings of an OBE.  I say that, because you weren't completely aware of what you were doing.  Attain a bit more awareness and yup, we could have called that a projection.  :)
