Hypnogogic vs Hypnopompic

Had another one of those strange hypnopompic images of mine this morning.

It was a field of small stones, stretch out in all directions as long as I could see. The stones were kind of peeble like made out of a white-greyish marble looking stone material. The stones were laying flat on the ground like on a very large beach area. I think all of the stones was in this kind of white shade, marble like or perhaps shiny chalk.

Then across the area like the letter X, two corridors or bands of light crossed each other at a point in my focus. These bands of light was like the light from two light houses of from doors slit openings. The surrounding stones which were not lit up lay on the ground in a slightly more shadow shade.

At the area where the two bands of light crossed, a small square area in an even lighter shade could be viewed.

The whole view was fixated. I couldn't move my eyes from the lit square area. I got that feeling of having a TV-screen that moved its center of view as I tried to move my eyes focus.

I lasted for about 10 seconds-

I woke up one time from my bed after a sleep paralysis state laying im my back staring towards the ceiling there was Large toad sticking to the ceiling. It was pretty large for a Toad And had an usual Color to it, Sort of like dark brownish black mixed with some green. I believed it to be a Totem at the time. Hallucination or not it's quite interesting the things that come to you unexpectedly.

I read about half the posts here, wanted to share my thoughts.
I use to think hypnopompic or hypnogogic related phenomena are really just sub-products to the process of sleeping, nothing "spiritual" about them, if you dont mind me calling them like that.

I dont experience much visual stuff, but when i am falling asleep its like i can form connections between things that are totally not related, and i am constantly forming these connections, even though most of them are just silly. It happens to me EVERY night

I experience very little hypnopompic stuff. Sometimes i can hear sounds or feel pressure on some bodyparts even if i am awake.
But not long ago a very unsettling experience:
I could see, like you said pauli, these images in front of me. THey were like on the foreground, where the room was in the background.
But they were not symbols or unrelated stuff. It was some kind of definition of a retrovirus. The words were in glowing green and stayed there for about 20 seconds, even if i blinked.
I dont remember what it said exactly but i couild clearly read the words. I should have written it down lol.

Anyway, i THINK its just biological, cerebral stuff, not spiritual, mental stuff.

But from what you say Xanth, you keep having the same hypnopompic phenomena. Interesting... maybe it is an "entity" that is using that state of conciousness to communicate with you, who knows...
