Title: I can get Vibrations, than I'm stuck
Post by: Adam wayne on September 14, 2008, 00:00:45
Tonight I laid down and done my relaxation exercises, and began breathing deeply. In through my nose and out through my mouth, like blowing a candle out. After about ten minutes I got intense vibrations, paralysis, and my hands clamped shut, like claws. I than attempted several exit techniques. I first tried the rope method first, with no success, and than I tried to role out which didn't work either. I seem to be stuck at this stage :x, and I need some advice from thous of you who are more experienced. What am I doing wrong? Is there something that I can try next time?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :-D

Hi Adam,
I think that your problem could be not recognising that you have separated and moved into the astral. Very often, once vibrations have subsided you will feel "normal" and awake, and for this reason you may well think you have failed, but have actually separated.
The simple answer to this is doing reality checks. Whenever you go through the vibrations, always do a reality check. The best check (in my experience) is to pinch your nose shut with your fingers and see if you can still breathe through your nose. If you can breathe through a closed nose you are obviously dreaming/OBEing.
It took me two years of trial and error to learn the art of lucid dreaming/astral projection. In that time I learned what really works, and I can now have a lucid dream every time time I make the effort.
My advice to you is:
Don't even attempt astral projection unless you have had at least 4 hours sleep. The first few hours of sleep at night are deep sleep and useless for lucid dreaming/astral projection. Set an alarm to wake you after 4 or 5 hours. Then stay awake for a while and then make your attempt.
Intention is everything. As you drift bacK to sleep you need to keep your intention in your mind. It helps to repeat a line mentally such as " as soon as I am dreaming, I will become lucid". Choose your own phrase - whatever works for you, and repeat it, over and over.Try to carry the sentence right through into a dream. This can take a few attempts, but it really works.
You may lose consciousness, and then feel deep vibrations. When you get the vibrations, don't fight them. Try to intensify them. They can get very powerfull, and almost feel like they are going to do you some physical damage, but just ride them out. When the vibrations finish, you should feel a sense of calm and may assume you've woken up. That's when you need to do your reality check!

Good luck

Good advice, nick.
I'd like to add that if you decide to go with the rope technique, do not stop doing it when the vibes go away, it doesn't mean the 'window' has closed- continue doing it for the longest time you can, until you either fall asleep or separate.
Too many people believe that vibrations only happen at the exit itself, and don't realize that vibrations can happen some time before you're ready to exit, or even at reentry.  And because the rope technique is so rough, many often give up too soon.
