Do we really leave our bodies, or...

I'm beginning to think the second one.more like an expansion of conciousness beyond the body, than leaving it,which could be seen as rather simplistic.

I think this question needs the answer of a really experienced traveller, like Frank or Mayatnik(no offence to any other I can not think of right now).
However this is the best answer I can give(only had two conscious projections):
You do not really project away from your body. In reality there is no time or space, everything lies on top of each other, yet still miles away from each other. You can travel "inwards" and find yourself at the most beautiful places, the same places you can find if you look "outside". Everything is everywhere and the other way around.
The whole idea of thinking of something else than your body is because you need to be seperate from it. You need to be in another vehicle than the body you refuse to focus on at that time, the physical. This way you shift your focus onto another vehicle of your desire(etheric, mental etc.)

I do not know if my thoughts explain anything as I just returned from a meditation-session, but it should at least have some logic in place..somewhere..[|)]

It is my thoughts that you do not leave your body, but merely move your consiousness or become aware of other planes. You already exist on the astral, mental, etc planes but you are not aware of those planes until you learn to focus your consciousness there. That is what I think anyway.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

The answer to this question seems obvious until you think about it: What is consciousness?

I would agree with this. We are all multi-dimensional beings, existing in all dimensions or spheres concurrently. Normally people's senses are fixed firmly in the physical world. With Astral projection, or Mental projection, the consciousness is expanded to the higher/inner bodies, and the projector then becomes aware of that body an assumes control over it.

OBE is a different matter. With OBE a copy of the etheric body, the etheric double is generated, and then a copy of consciousness is transferred to it. The etheric double then becomes the main vehicle for travel. It is possible to reach the Astral from an OBE, but as the vehicle of travel is a copy of the original, there are associated problems such as reality fluctuations and considerable problems in remembering the experience as the copy of the mind has to download the memories to the original.

When physical life ends, the consciousness automatically becomes aware of, and assumes control over the Astral body, and when that dissolves the consciousness becomes aware of the Mental body in the Spirit worlds. So the process is always an expansion or shift of consciousness.

Adrian.

Adrian, I have come to this conclusion:  after 12 yrs of what I call astral traveling my spirit or soul leaves this physical body and my spirit or soul is the main consciousness to this body. I'm not sure if it is an astral travel or an OBE. I call it the same. I interact with the physical person or time frame and this is actual existing time. I am able to touch and feel and also able to see my reflection as being solid when I have astral traveled and others have also felt this density of my body. So my question to you would be is this an OBE or am I astral traveling? Is astral traveling just a non reality? An OBE is the reality?

Greetings lyn92,

If you project to what is known as "the real-time zone" as you describe, it is most likely an OBE. With OBE you appear to leave your body, which is partially true. It is partially true because in most cases, as described in Astral Dynamics for example, a copy of the etheric body is generated, otherwise known as the "etheric double" and a copy of the consciousness is transferred to it, but which is where the awareness is located. It is often difficult to reach the Astral from the real-time zone, which is actually the etheric plane.

There are exceptions to this, I know people who can fully leave their physical bodies and travel anywhere at will. Usually, these people simply leave through their crown or brow chakra, usually the crown.

Astral projection is a projection of consciousness to the Astral body. It can be better thought of as an expansion of consciousness because the awareness is being expanded beyond the confines of the physical senses to encompass the Astral and fully control senses and body. In these cases there is no awareness of the physical body giving the impression that is has been vacated. All awareness is centred firmly in the Astral planes.

The Astral planes can look similar to the physical world, but there are a vast number or Astral realms all of which have their own unique characteristics. In the Astral there is no time or space, so everything exists there that exists now, has ever existed and ever will exist.

Is our awarness truly multi-dimensional?  I feel that it possible if one fully leaves his body throught crown chakra he can be simultaneously  aware of a number of bodies, or let`s say this awarness is incorporated in him. So one can sense different dimensions at once. It`s like be in the RTZ and yet see presence of astral and spiritual dimensions as well. Or like here in 3-d we can see 2-D and 1-D  and interact in all this dimensions at the same time.
If that`s a case then by expanding our awarness we are encompassing the dimensions that are sort of included in each other?

Could it be seen as a  web and one consciousness is a point in it, the closer to the center the more dimensions are encompassed in one awarness.

And it`s look like when one leaving his body throught crown chakra it`s refered by some people as soul projection. Which is actually seems to be a projection directly to the intended place by placing yourself at certain plane, dimension. Sort of like you know coordinates instantly .

Hope it make sense[:)]

I think that we don't physically leave our bodies but that we move outside of the physical universe.

Think about this. If you do not move in the normal x y and z axis's but you move in time only you would still appear to physically move because the earth is moving in the x y and z!

Yes ok you have no idea what I mean. Let me try again. You are glued to a certain piece of space, the earth is moving around the sun and the sun is moving around the milky way and the milky way is moving out from the center of creation. If you move in only the time aspect and none of the others you still move to someone seeing you.

Or maybe I'm rambling if so I'm sorry...

...do we just pay attention to something other than our bodies?
