I've been very interested and intrigued by the subject of astral projection, for quite some time. I personally have never done it myself, but I think it would be awesome to make a short film about an guy who learns to astral project. I was hoping to have some experienced astral projectors tell me what is possible in astral planes and what is not.  :-D

Oh really? I just watched the trailer. It looks awesome. The animation is really cool. I was planning on having more of a darker tone to my short film though. Would it be realistic to have live action characters for when it takes place in the astral plane?

Sure.

Stop for a second and take a look around you right now.

That's what a Projection is.  Not what it's "like"... that's what it *IS*.

Wow, thank you. This is actually very helpful. I tried to do it once, and everything felt like it was spinning and my heart began to race so I stopped and I've been afraid to do it ever since.

The racing is expected, you think its your heart as it feels that way. I've monitored mine at 47 beats per min, the racing presenting itself at the time.
It requires you to know it's safe with various wierd sensations occuring. They are as wierd as the feeling of the first drop on a rollercoaster, scarey but naturally occurring. You soon lose the fear and want more.

After 50 years I still can't get enough.
There's no dyin' in tryin'
just flyin' no sighin'.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Just a suggestion for film making make sure your working with a good writer. Writing makes or breaks a film. You need a plot and goal for the project and an outline. like a series of paintings leading to a climax.

Some things to consider is not only looking at the how of projection but also the why question. Consider the historical aspects. Saints who experience divine ecxtasy, shamanic journying, ascensions ect. The mystical aspects will add depth  and interest to a project while maintaining the focus you need to have to keep the film moving at an acceptable pace.

Just some thoughts. Also beginners might have quite a bit to add. people who have difficulty projecting talking about the obstacles. CAn you help them overcome the obstacles and document it? Take your time with it. Do something worthwhile. I think it's a good idea but the stuff thats out there is mediocre. It's time for some brillance and some heartfelt and deep searching in the media world

If the character wants to learn how to astral project in order to contact a person who has died, would that a good reason? And is that possible?
