it sounds almost like a typical obe state noise, how close were you to projecting? When you get near to the obe state there seems to be an increase in weird noises, don't think they can really be explained. My experiences are having normal sounds change into something totally weird, buzzing like you had while obe for the first few times, voices of my daughter and her friends appear in the hallway while i was in the in between state and random pops and clicks.
The buzzing sound/whistling, etc.. is definitely the sound you hear when you are ready to obe. That sound is initially pretty low and then it amplifies and when it is maximum you are ready to go...
Another thing might be just a stedy whisle sound, that does not amplify too much, sounds almos like a screen or tv that is turned on... that one I hear all the time, and I guess it is there all the time we just never pay attention to it.
shaman, you mean its there all the time like, when your alone and nothing is turned on and you hear that eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee noise? and it never stops? its weird.
no one ever know what i'm talking about lol
I do. It happens a lot when theres silence. Its kindof like a highpitched whine. But its on the edge of your consciousness, so its hard to identify.
right thats it. its WEIRD. everything ahs to be REALLY silent. i dont hear it anymore because something always going on at our house.
It's supposedly the sound of the energy collected in your chakras. I hear it anytime I want to but it's very obvious when your manipulating your energy especially during chakra energy raising. It becomes very loud when you are about to OBE.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like i may be close to the OBE.

Our Amygdala: The Astral Projection Switch?
Neil Slade from Dormant Brain Lablink:
http://www.neilslade.com/
The web page administrator says: Neil states that during sleep, our reptilian brain ego function is at its lowest point of control which allows our frontal lobes to take over. This happens during REM sleep (and this is also what I said under my sleep article; that we shouldn't mimic sleep, but REM sleep!) He also states that "during sleep, our brain's electrochemical currents are allowed free access to the frontal lobes- precisely because our amygdala are clicked forward out of reptilian self-preservation circuits".
This Neil person says the Amygdala clicks. Maybe that's what you heard.
I have heard all kinds of goofy sounds just prior to AP. Gunshots in the distance, wind chimes, cans dragging, velcro ripping apart, someone pounding metal with a hammer(?), paper rustling (like someone opening a newspaper to read), and people talking off in the distance. I can never make out anything they say. I'm not fearful in any way of these goofy noises, but rather enjoy them. I guess I am more amused by them than anything else.
There are however, noises and experiences that I could do without and fear. I have awakened apparently out of an unconscious AP, with total sleep paralysis and a very lound "whooosh" sound between my ears. This sound is so loud that I worry about my eardrums rupturing.
Just letting you know you are not alone..
i get sleep para. esp when i'm sleeping in a strange place, what about you guys?
i noticed everytime i wake up in skeep para. during the day time i'm nto scared. inf act in one case i remember thinking the exact words of "ok, whatever" and falling back to sleep before i came out of it. lol it can be fun.
Is it normal or can you identify this sound. I was in the Monroe state of focus 10, but not using the gateway tapes. I was relaxing and trying the rope method of projection when I heard a loud noise. At first I thought that the air conditioner was just clicking on but it was different. It lasted for about 1 or 2 minutes and it was medium pitched and very steady, no waves or pitch changes. The closest thing I can describe it as is, if you have ever listened to the first gateway tapes it is very similar to the sounds you can hear in the background but very solid and no distortions. Like a buzzing without the wavy pitch quality.
Thank you for reading this. I realize that I did not do a very good job of explaining the sound but maybe someone will recognize it. Thanks for the replies.
