I have been trying to "get out" for 2 weeks and i just cant seem to do it. I even put ear plugs in. I can get to the point of the colors and maybe somewhat of a tingly feeling i just cant force myself out any suggestions? thanks:)
Start with further deepening your state of relaxation.
This is generally *ALWAYS* the part that beginners mess up on.
When you think you're relaxed, you're generally not. ;)
ummm im not exactly sure how i can do this... can you like describe in a little more detail? sorry i just really want t do this... i want to broaden myself as much as possible. I love finding out new things and. This is te best way i can think of to spiritually grow.
Relaxation...
I tend to do a progressive relaxation.
Starting with each individual set of muscles in my head and working my way down (shoulders, arms, hands, chest, abs, etc...).
Focusing on each set of muscles and willing them to relax.
Alternative, if you're having trouble willing them to relax... just tense them up as much as you can, then release them. That's the same effect. ;)
Also you can imagine any tenseness and worries just melting out of you and out of your body, than imagine a very heavy warm liquid filling your body and allow yourself to feel this. Just a tip.
Two weeks isn't that long! There are folks out there who have been trying to project for years in some cases and haven't been unsuccessful. Those are in the extreme to be sure. Give it some time and follow a technique that works well for you...you may have to hunt around for one that fits well...and keep it up for at least one month of daily practice. If you stay on it, you will succeed eventually.
As the others have said, relaxation and calming the mind are the keys. You can't project if your mind is noisy or if you are focusing heavily on your body.
Good luck, and keep up the practice!
i have a problem with visualization. i just see the black void in front of me... i got to the point of controling my vibrations, im pretty sure i did it felt really good not really like electricity or vibrations though. more of a sensation.
Sounds like the vibs to me. I'm usually able to get to there but I'm still working on being on that fine line between consciousness and sleep without falling asleep. Oh well.

You should practice Tai chi chuan Xanth. I have been practicing martial arts for several years and find that a 30 minute session before my meditation helps to completely relax my physical body. The goal of Tai Chi Chuan is to teach the practitioner to relax by using the body as efficiently as possible, with no muscular tension.
I actually practice Aikido.
While it can be physically hard... afterwards I always have a sense of peace and "mushu" (no mind) that I use afterwards to meditate on.
Very relaxing. :)
I used to do tai-chi and had to stop when I moved into my new house because I didn't have the room anymore, but I switched over to chi-kung since you don't have to travel across the floor. When I'm done with a session I feel very similar like I do with NEW, or like I'm refreshed from a really good sleep. It compliments my weight lifting and other exercising as well.
