First you need to validate that the previous kid is indeed the guilty party - try to find info and/or contact that family and gently probe the ground.
"Psychic Defence" by Robert Bruce MAY contain (I haven't read it) relevant information regarding how to protect your kid from the mean bastard.
Members of the board more experienced with that sort of thing will hopefully give you more useful pointers on your issue.

Seems like you have a situation that needs to be addressed quickly. I remember someone posting about "shields" on these forums somewhere. I am no expert on these topics but I want to let you know that there is a way to help...just don't know how. Try talking with Tisha, she seems to be very helpful. Do a search for "Astral Shields" and see if that pulls up anything. Also I highly suggest that you practice your OBE's. You may be able to talk to this "ghost" or better yet transfere energy from yourself to your child for protection. Most of all, your child has just met a ghost which can be very frightening, I know. Try to keep your son calm and ask him about the ghost, can he talk to him? Does the ghost hurt him? I wish you the best of luck with your case, and please tell me a result, because this is a very interesting topic.

The spectre does not seem to be molesting or abusing him. Could it be possible that our child is merely sensing the negative energies connected to the house? There were some obviously strange things in the house prior to us remodeling, such as strange symbols drawn in crayon on the walls and a inconspicuous, small hole punched through the drywall in a closet with symbols surrounding it in what I believe to be the other childs' room prior to us moving in. Thanks for the input.

Last night I read about some magic as hard as it is for me to actually admit that I believe in it. I was reading about symbols that are drawn, which is why I bring this up. If you go to the new page the Adrian has posted, It has a book full of info on magic. It is white magic, which is good magic, only used for good, no evil. There are symbols that couter-measure evil. You may want to use these symbols as a sign of protection. Also-if you are in a region with MINT plants, take the leaves and crush them into a powder, then sprinkle them around your house. supposedly they will keep negative entities away. I'm not sure how into magic you are. I do not dabble in areas I do not know. I have a friend who saw satan(evil of course) and this was in her old house. He was in a room where satanic rituals had taken place. It may be best to get some "Holy Water" and srinkle it in the room and say a prayer or two. This method has worked for catholics for ages, maybe it will work for you. Good luck.

We moved into this house about a year ago and our son (3 yrs old)has told us that he sees a little boy with black hair and is not a happy sort of kid, in his room at night. My wife and I chalked it all up to the imaginary friend/displacement anxiety thing that some kids are prone to after moving. Come to find out after speaking with a neighbor, the people who lived in this house prior to us have a child, who is declared 'mentally unstable' by the state. When I asked the name of the child, our shock deepened when the child's name happened to be the same name that our son refers to the little spirit boy who visits him regularly. Now we do not have any problem with someone visiting in any form that is benign, but this child is causing our child problems. Is it possible that this child's ability to OBE has caused him to be treated as 'mentally unstable' to the point that maybe it has made him a "mean kid" in body as well as spirit. I have had OBE's myself, but I have no control over them and they are extremely rare. We would really appreciate some advice on how to deal with this situation that a typical mental health professional would prescribe strong anti-psychotic medication for.
