Title: I possibly induced paralysis with mental sounds...
Post by: Nagual on October 14, 2003, 02:24:31
Maybe the (astral?) sounds helped you to "tune" to the astral...  I just know that I use my astral senses to try to stay in the astral.  And that some annoying astral guys use it to prevent me from waking up...

Hey Zarklon,
When you spoke of listening to high pitched ringing sounds it reminded me of Tibetan singing bowls. These singing bowls, you lay it in one of you palms and with the other hand strike it with a wooden mallot. Once it is stiked upon you continue the humming vibration by sliding the mallot around the edged of the bowl (like you would do with trying to make your wine glass outer rim sing). These bowls are highly looked upon for chakra work and inducing different states of trance and an overall pure relaxation state. It was very neat you mentioned something like it...I feel your definitely on to something. Keep working with it :)!

Usually, most people recommend that you try to project when you're waking up from a sleeping state.  Why?  Because like you discovered, your body is already completely relaxed, and your MIND alone is becoming aware.

So once you reach that threshold where your mind is aware and your body is still asleep, then at that stage, you can do almost any OBE technique and it will work.

The hard part, as you also discovered, it staying awake!  Most of my OBE's have happened after I was asleep and then woken up without moving around.  If this happens enough, you begin to recognize the signs and it becomes easier to not fall back asleep afterwards.

You're on the right track!  Keep it up.

thanks for the feedback guys , I think it did help me "tune" into the astral more.. I feel that it was imagery noises and since I've used some techniques to sort of .. "latch on" to the imagery in the past to project, what happened to me the other day relates a lot to that. I'll work with it and let you guys know if anything happends. I'm pretty sure I could OBE a lot more often if I'm woken up early from sleeping and I try to project but I'm really trying to achive and OBE state from a technique that doesnt involve me being asleep and then woken up again.

I'm sure many of you guys are trying to accomplish this same goal , it seems to be the more difficult route =P

I was lying in bed this morning after my mom woke me up at 10am to go take some fever medicine and antibiotics. I sat up , rubbed my eyes and they put my head back down thinking about whether or not I felt like getting up so early.. Since I turned off my noisy computer the night before , it was still off at this time so I overheard the ringing in my ears at that time.. What I heard with it was a sound that sounded like... someone hitting a wind-chime in the distance one chime at a time with a somewhat different and subtle tone change each time.. It could have been hypnagogic imagery noise or something but I didnt see any pictures flood my mind.. I suppose this noise came to me because I had just woke up and was still in that sleepy state.. What I decided to do was lie there and mentally repeat the sound over and over and listen to the ringing in my ears .. pretty soon it gave me a feeling of total relaxation and it sorta felt like I had mellowed out and became really calm.. my body started to buzz lightly all over .. felt like a fuzzy feeling and this kept me aware ..

At first I Didnt know what was going on but I decided to keep mentally making the sounds happen until I felt that "surge" of paralysis come over my body a few short times. They were pretty powerful by the way and I just knew I was paralysed .. when I tried to move , it was really easy to move and I noticed that it was my astral body that I took control of. I was overwhelmed with joy as I stood in my room only to notice that the room was different .. it looked like the room of my past which still had old wood panneling on the walls yet had the new tile flooring.. My entertainment system was gone and from there on , I slipped into a less concious dream where the next thing I saw was my parents skinny dipping in a .. new pool built in my backyard (which in reality isnt there either ).

Besides the wierd stuff that followed , I thought back on the exit and how I was able to induce the paralysis state.. Was it because my body was already sleepy from just being woke up ? I'm not sure.. I've tried to project like that before but to no avail .. maybe listening to these imagery noises and mentally repeating and willing them on could have done something to bring on the paralysis/projection state.

A suggestion to anyone reading this would be to lay down after maybe doing breathing excercises and mediation , try to listen for a sound that just sorta.. comes to you.. and repeat it as comfortably as possibile (without making it a job) and see if you reach the state that I tried to mention above =P

It was a very easy, comfortable , and relaxing attempt which I just did on-the-spot so to speak.

Give it a try , good luck :)
