Is it proven?

I've been reading more and more about OBE's and AP. People say it is where we go when we die. That being said, has this been proven? It seems reasonable but is there any proof or any experience you guys have had that can back these theories up?

I'm not sure if there is any formal proof. I think it could be proven scientifically, but I don't think scientists want it to be proven so they don't give much focus to it as far as I know. The proof lives on in the minds of those who have experienced it. I know there is some talk about the "card trick" on this forum, but most people can't get it to work. I, myself, have tried to memorize the license plates of my neighbors while OBE and never could get it to work. It's because of all the distortions we experience.

I know Szaxx wrote a pretty cool story on a thread that I posted in which he had some proof. The title of that thread is "I'm new. OBE to Walmart? Can you give opinions?" His post is the 12th one down on the 1st page.
If you see someone in the astral riding around in a red bumper car, it's probably me.

I don't know of anyone who has died pemanently and came back.

No, "proof" doesn't exist.

You need to become comfortable with the very idea that you might NEVER know if you want to do this stuff.

If you're doing projection in order to "prove" something to anyone, you're going to fail.

If you wish to find out the best way is to learn the art. It's not too difficult for a normal person. The proof is typically subjective meaning it's open to interpretation. Some things are definate. These rarely occur and can't be done just because of an argument on the reality of it. It simply doesn't work that way.
Anyone who wants proof should keep an open mind and get the answers by learning for themselves. Thats the best way to go.
Is this real? Yes.
Can you speak to the dead? Yes.
Is it easy to do it? No, it takes tremendous skill.
Those who have the necessary skills are busy doing far more important things.

Hope this helps a little.

You can only prove it to yourself. There are incredible theories that can neatly square most ideas away but you still have to do the personal work. And even then, it is just a theory. I am confident enough to say that I know what is "next" but I am smart enough to know I can't prove it to anyone.

As to proof all any one of us can prove are  our own  thoughts , and   feelings . Am I alive , is any of this real ?  ect.  Robert Monroe meet up with ghosts , and people that had just died . The guy that wrote the book astral realms wrote of people in different parts of the astral plane that had created the kind of life they had while alive . As to where you go when you die , where do you want to go ?       desert rat

Direct, yet so elegant. Nicely put.

I believe that one of the goals of life should be to seek your inner self for this sort of proof. Seeing is believing. Try to see.

:-D

Looks like a good read. It would be nice to have more scientific evidence on the subject, but apart from subjects reporting with high degree of accuracy what they have seen while out of body, what else is there?

I mean, at the risk of sounding stupid (forgive me if I am) but exactly how do you measure, 'consciousness' (if you know what I mean)

Thanks for the link- will be reading that in more detail later today  :-)

In my opinion, OOBE is no proof for afterlife. This article (Perception of reality VS OOBE) proves the oposite. But there are many believers who would disagree no matter what logical argument you present :)

I agree with you to a certain extant. Mainstream science, the media, and Organized religions  have ran an effective campaign casting so much doubt on the best objective evidence on "supernatural" science that the kindest thing western culture has to say about believers is that they are weird or eccentric.

So I rely on my own subjective evidence which is a thousand times more satisfying than anything else. I hope no one else would believe their own truth for any other reason.
