Something I wanted to share.
Little bit of backround. I'm not the best projector, because I never try to practice it, I rarely meditate, I don't keep a journal, etc etc.
But I've been studying metaphysics for over a decade, so at this point, when something happens, I understand what's going on and what to do about it. I've also read OUR in its entirety.
Despite my lack of discipline I seem to posses a lot of latent abilities that others spend years trying to develop, i.e. I'm so empathic I can almost read minds, and animals' minds at that. In fact, thanks to this, most of my income comes from playing poker at my leisure. I'm clairsentient enough to feel a friend (or say, a cop) coming my way. I don't seem to have to spend a lot of time thinking about something for it to manifest in my life. Life is good.
One huge factor that I believe limits my ability to practice projecting is that I live and sleep with my girlfriend, who snores like a banshee and hogs the bed. She's also a psycho-somatic cup-half-empty type while I never get sick and always look at things positively. Her negative energies definitely make things more difficult for me, and despite my efforts I can't get her to change her ways. She's very good to me though so I find it hard to leave her, though I know we'll never be getting married. Any advice on this matter is welcome, though its not the focus of this post.
Anyway, I've actually managed to train myself to gain conciousness whenever "the vibrations" come. I've also learned not to react in any way that could halt them, i. e. getting scared or excited or consumed with ecstacy, though to be honest that particular skill might be tied to my former marijuana usage - my body isn't surprised by feeling that way. I always have some problem or another even when I do exit, like I'll have no control of where I'm floating so I'll just be sinking into the ground, or I won't be able to see, though I've heard this can improve as you get further from your body. I've done a lot of visualization exercises during lucid dreams to try to help with my clarity.
ANYWAY, I'm an outside of the box thinker; after all, the truth to reality is that anything goes, we our only limited by our own minds, so why not think outside the box? So last night when I became aware of the vibrations, I tried something new. A key to exit is raising your vibrations, and a lot of people say to try rolling out of their body. I hadn't tried that yet, but I decided to take that idea a step further. I spun in circles as fast as I could. It wasn't dizzying in any way. It felt incredible. The best description I can give is raising the torque of an engine. It felt like I was sucking in more and more... power. I began rising straight out of my body, and on top of that, I could SEE. We have 360 degree vision anyway, so it didn't look like I was spinning, you know? Anyway, it felt like I was about to have a great projection, when......
My girlfriend kicked me in her sleep. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, just thought I'd share, and maybe others could try this technique next time they have a chance, and let me know how it goes for them.
If you're spinning, aren't you already OOB? So spinning then is just something to try rather than a technique to exit?
Well, for a lot of people, when your body is ready for separation, you still have trouble getting out. Its a state of mind, you have to have the conviction to leave your body, but at the same time you have to be careful to not move your physical body. When you get those vibrations, you can leave, but many people still have trouble. Some people will get out, but then have no control over themselves after that.
If I recall correctly, wasn't it you that once described trying to roll out of body, had no success, got up to go to the bathroom, and THEN realized you were out of body?
Spinning instantly raised me out of my body, but I wasn't already out before I started spinning. Anyway, the reason I found it interesting was that for some reason the spinning absorbed a lot of extra energy, and your energy levels can be critical when it comes to projection, how long you can stay, how well you can recall the event, and whether or not you can see.
maverick7h, I've used the same spinning technique many times, in order to exit. Also rolling out. Also floating up and across the room. But my technique has changed many times over the years. At the moment I'm having a lot of success with simply "beaming" out. The best description is that I seem to well up my energy into my head and kind of "push out" from my forehead across the room. Suddenly I find myself standing across the room, with full vision. It's a great sensation, one moment i'm awake in bed and the next moment i am standing across the room with full vision. No vibrations by the way. I can even "feel" the reality shift as it happens, it's quite remarkable. I really enjoy this particular technique because when the shift from wakefulness to standing across the room happens it's a very sudden, tangible and remarkable sensation. I seem to have success with this in the mornings after waking from say 5-7 hours normal sleep. For me it's very easy, but I've been doing this for years now. But anyway, as I said I've also used your spinning technique many times. I think we can use just about any technique which draws our focus of attention away from our physical body. Spinning is very good indeed, because it really dissociates you from your body. what is required (I think) is simply a shift in consciousness from wakefulness to MABA to OOB (3 stages). Any metaphor (spinning, floating , rolling out, beaming) which helps us to perform the consciousness shift will work, but it's probably a highly individual thing.
Yeah..that was me! That was freaky.
I'm reading "Adventures Beyond the Body" and I'm in a chapter where William Buhlman explains techniques for exiting. He said there was a time it became extremely difficult for him to exit so he enlisted the help "others" and actually had entitys lend a hand to help pull him out! :-o The other methods he mentions are the common ones like sitting up and walking, rolling out and floating. I've done all three and by far my favorite is floating.
I'll keep the spinning thing in mind and see what happens. Now are you spinning as though the axis is from head to toe?
I've tried rolling, floating, etc, and it can get me out of body, but it doesn't usually give me the energy I need to really be in control of the experience. Spinning brought that needed energy into me, though I agree a lot to projection is very individualized. I think it worked well for me while traditional techniques do not, in part because I lack sufficient deliberate experience, but also because many other said techniques are movements you can easily perform in your physical body, while spinning that fast is definitely not something you can do, so I face no confusion.
And yes, that is, as soon as I started spinning my orientation was vertical, not horizontal like while lying in bed.
It is interesting and good to hear that the technique I discovered is not unique. I've always been proud of my ability to come to accurate conclusions with very limited apparent information. Maybe that's why I make such a good poker player :). That is just our higher selves instructing us, as our higher selves already know everything, but I am glad to be receptive of it.
Catmeow, I would like you to see a couple pictures of my two cats. They are almost fully grown now, but check these out. Interesting, don't you think?

maverick - yeah they are brilliant pics - and one of them is the spit of my avatar!! Quite a coincidence eh? Really nice pics..... thanks for sharing them!
jub jub - I actually spin around a verical axis, like a helicopter blade. iit's never occurred to me to spin head to toe.. (like tumbling) I think that would make me dizzy! I'll give it a try sometime.
I do find that what works one day may not work the next, so I just tend to use whatever technique feels right at the time....
