During sleep, in order to avoid having the physical body carry out dream actions the brain inhibits motions below the neck. You can regulate eye motions and you can change the pattern of your breathing in dreams and these will carry over to your physical body. You cannot move your arms or legs by doing so with dream arms or dream legs. The sleep paralysis can become a problem because some people are awake to experience it. Strong emotions have a tendency to make things worse. To break the paralysis, it is best to focus on a big toe and try to get it to move. For whatever reason, this is the part that is easiest to move and even a small motion is enough to break the paralysis. Would you believe that I have no personal experience of the state? I have wanted it, though, because it sounds like a step along the way to having an out of body experience. It sounds like something I can't ruin by getting excited (its happening ... do something before it goes away!). Actually, I also read that it is unusual to take sleep paralysis directly into an out of body experience. The key to it might be just focussing on a point away from the body. That, too, is just theory to me.

Strong muscle tension could be an energy thing. The energy could be provoking muscle contractions, like the way my eyes will start blinking some times and I can't stop it. Working with NEW or some other energy techniques either alone or in combination can help.

Welcome Lost,

I have a feeling that what you consider a problem at the momment will end up tuning into an asset.

Hello there,

Welcome to the board, Lost! I tried to post message this a couple times, but the site kept giving me trouble.

Take care,

Hello and welcome!  I echo what Tom wrote.  Also, try to get your hands on everything Robert Bruce has written, especially in regards to what he has said/written about sleep paralysis, etc.  The more you inform yourself of these matters the less scary and unnerving your experiences will be and your eyes will be opened.

Hi I'm new here in this board, I happen to come across to this site because of one problem I was getting, the sleep paralysis.
I was getting sleep paralysis for years, and through out the paralysis problem I found myself getting this floating feeling, and strange feeling like I'm going down a roller coaster ride.
Anyway, for the last couple months, I've been having even more strange experience like my belly area is getting a weird strong muscles tension, around the right side of the waist area (as I often sleep facing the left side). So I would like to know if this is related to the Astral Projection I've been reading?
I'm interested in this whole Astral Projection process, so I would like to know about the muscle tension I was getting and the weird experience I've had, and how it's related to AP.
