Walking around I've seen your post so here it goes my answer.
I also studied the effect of hypnosis/mantram repeating/and the like... and applied them in some attempts with no success.

But some years ago I read a lot of on NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and the effect of languaje on the mind. So taking this all together I've been employing the following one with good results (sorry, no oobe yet, I'm on it).

Although I've used (proved) many projection techniques I've found "Ophiel's little method" to be the most efficient and exigent of all, because you have to have good visualization capabilities and, added to this, the ability to transfer your other senses to the astral. This demands a lot of effort and a great deal of concentration.

You may say: "too difficult to waste time on it, then", which is exactly what I thought many years ago. The point is that I'm involved in a meditation technique (inner guide meditation) in which I need complete control of my "astral senses" in order to interact with some energies (I mean I want a "real" stage to make the experience as complete as I can). So this all have boiled down to the very need of mental projection to have good results.

There's another very important point: inspiration. Sometimes you read a grand amount of information to oobe but you don't find that spark which must make all blow up. And, curiously, you don't realize you have all mental resources you need to make it happen. And about mental resources I mean all your life experience which is accurately stored on your mind. So seek in it for inspiration: take feelings fired up by music, tv shows, films, and so on and learn to fire them up in another context of your interest.

Have you ever seen "Charmed" tv show?. Yes, it is a bit absurd but when you have watched several seasons your mind is prepared to expect something when a spell is pronounced. So you can extrapolate this expectation from on thought to other.

So, setting this all stuff up in a practical tool what I do is the following (I repeat I've not had success on conscious astral projection but I had on LD):
1.Remember actions done along the day and repeat them "astrally": having a shower, loading the dishwasher, walking down the street,... At the very beginning is a bit difficult because you feel your inner sight is not acute enough or that your equilibrium lacks itself. With some weeks it starts to improve, and better, you start to stare more consciously at your surroundings because you have the neccesity of them.
2.Pass all your senses: imagine you're in warm water, or tasting an apple or touching your dogs hair. You don't need a degree to pass to the next stage, try it as better as you can and progresively they all will arrange by itself.
3.Be confident about yourself and forget limitations. Every limiting or disturbing thought you've got builds up a new wall between you and success. So when feeling something like it take another possitive thought from the depths of your past experience on other fields.
4.Increase the amount of time used in the exercise and forget success, just keep on practicing, success will come by its own.
5.Follow a path, just from your study room to the farthest room in your home. Walk it through enjoying the surrondings and interacting with them. Watch, touch, hear and feel that I'm-really-here thought.
6.At this point I added my heart chakra sensation, which is very powerfull and sometimes tight. So in my astral body I feel that chakra and start to repeat phrases like: it's inevitable guy, sooner or later I'll be here, retarding is but a waste of effort,... and the most suggesting phrases you can say to yourself.
7.When you're very close to success fear thoughts may arrive. I had them, which surprised me a lot, but subconsciously they're somewhere on my mind, so face them gently.
8.Sometimes it's useful to invoke an image of the fear and interact with it in the same way you would do with a human being. Just accept it's a part of yourself, a hidden one which wants just the same understanding from you as you want from people. So take care of it and ask it what it wants in order to reintegrate in your whole and be able to go on.
9.It may sound silly but love is a very powerfull feeling. Send it the same love you feel about your mother, boyfriend, friend or sister, and treat it as a friend. A friend which wants to protect you from something of what you're unaware.

I'm having really great results not in oobe but in meditation and I hope I'll soon have an oobe, but a conscious one, not a LD in which all is out of control.

So summarizing my very fist valuable tool is extrapolation of feelings.

Sorry if I've extended too much. Peace.

what if i use self hypnosis with the command "u can astrally project at will" do u think it will work?
why or why not

astralpwka

I used to try self-hypnosis to astral project, but I've come to the conclusion it won't work.

Here's why: I can't spontaneously astral project, and astral projecting takes a lot of will power, or luck through lucid dreams. Even though I'm telling myself what to do, my astral body doesn't know how to accomplish it, or doesn't like taking orders. I *only think it might work* once you have had some successes with astral projecting consciously, and then only to increase the frequency. But, self-hypnosis and meditation have some similarities, so once you have a feel for what you are doing, you could replace the meditation with self-hypnosis (that is, if you meditate).

Actually hypnosis has nothing to do with deep relaxation.
But deep relaxation is a way to get access easier to the
subconsciousness. [:)]

that will make us infinitely big,
but if we compare
ourselves to infinitely
big, it will make us infinitely small.
What is our size again?

Hi there,

I'm afraid you only have the answer to that question. I mean, everyone is unique and functions in its own way, but let me explain some "order types" I've found interesting.

First, never order [:P]. What's your first feeling when receiving an order?, opposition, for sure, and your subconscious just do the same. Note the different between "just do this!" and "It'd be great if you could do this", or "doing this is gratifying for you".

Second, never use modals. "Can" means that you can do something, not that you do something [:O]. Nor use "if", "or",... Using IF you condition a result to a trigger: "if I could relax..." here you assume there's something stopping you from relaxing.

Third, presuppose. If you assume true a fact that could be true your subconscious is more likely to assume it. "Inevitably I'm relaxing more and more". You can apply your paranoias too: "I can't stop this relaxing feeling, while being dragged to a calm state".

Fourth, in that kind of "mantra" you're going to repeat mix real facts with other ones you want to achieve but which aren't real yet. And link the phrases with particles like "while, and,...", never use negative like ones (or, if, not,...).

Fifth, involve all senses if you can. If some pestilence gets to your nose include it naturally: "I'm smelling some bad air and I'm continuing with this deepening...".

Sixth, be kind with yourself (just do love yourself) and your subconscious mind. It is there to help us, to function as a computer which manages all involuntary movements, mind programs and the like. You can tell yourself: "X, I'm practicing a beneficial exercise which helps (not, will help, assume it helps from the very first momment) both us, X, it would be grate to receive your help,..." (where X is your own name).

Seventh, feel as real what you're saying. Assume as real. What?, that you're doing right now, sure?, compare then, bring to your mind a real fact you know very well about your life and compare with that "I'm astrally projecting" chant... do they feel equally?. If not you can link them two to extrapolate the correct feelings.

Eighth, tell subconscious as if it was a real friend, a person, a childish child which is all powerful and who wants people to be kind with him. Insted of "I'm relaxing", say "Achieving this state of relaxation is so wonderful" (note I'm presuposing here, too).

Here it goes an example (assuming you're laid down on a carpet, bed,...):

1.I'm laying down (a real fact).
1a.While relaxing more and more (a fact not yet real).
2.Breathing deeply and relaxly (another one).
3.Seeing the blackness of my eyelids (real).
3a.And I'm relaxing deeper and deeper (not real, or perhaps already real).
4.Hearing my neighbor noising (if that's your case).
4a.And feeling my body lighter and lighter.
5.... and so on.

With this exercise you mix real facts and future facts. Your subconscious is confidence if it can check those facts. Mixing two types it finally starts to become true the non real ones (if it can, of course, no miracles).

It's important to do cycles of phrases. Use the five senses (see, hear, smell,...) if you can, if not just assume tact, vision and hearing.

In the first cycles apply more real facts. In the last more non real ones will be applied.

I knew of this technique studying NLP and it works for me quite well. Anyway, and as always tends to happen, confidence, faith and believe in oneself is the better trigger to get to somewhere [|)]

Peace.

I have for a long time been interested in OOBE and Self Hypnosis...

To-date all of my OOBEs have been "random" in the sence that I will be dreaming and for what ever reason realize I am dreaming...and then of course everything changes...some say it was still only a dream but after performing tests I know better.

Reading a book on self hypnosis:
Practical Self Hypnosis By Melvin Powers

I noticed that Hypnosis and the deep relaxation needed for OOBEs are very very similar.

So I was goofing around the other night and trying an exercise in the book.

The basics of it are the typical "lie down, relax, take a few deep breaths, imagine you are laying on cloud..."

And it was then I noticed that the "energy" movents (as described in Robert Bruces books) started on their own.

I used the technique in the Hyponosis book to give myself a "trigger" that would automatically take me back to that same point in time.

The next night I layed down and instead of doing any enegry work I repeated the "trigger" in my mind and BAM - everything was as the night before...deeply relaxed, no feeling other then the "energy" movment.

So this got me thinking...

For every idea someone has, 9 million other people have already done it.

Who has tried Self Hypnosis in conjunction with OOBEs?

What happened?

Hi bcaims,

Read your post on astral pulse about hypnosis you have been doing.  I'm a Certified Advanced Hypnotist and yes the techniques of hypnosis are simular to the relaxations for attempting Astral Travel and even doing Psychic Readings.

The majority of hypnotists that are train'd go into Somnambulism and Deep Somnambulism.

The training we went through go's much further or deeper then the normal depths that other hypnotists use.

After Somnambulism and Deep Somnambulism there is the Esdaile State, then the Catatonic State.

The Trigger is also called (KEYWORD) which is give to the subject so they can return to that same deep state in seconds.

Each time they use their KEYWORD and go back into hypnosis they go even deeper then the last time.

Sincerely,
Frank (hypnoitst1)
