Hello Cas, welcome to Astralpulse!
I've not used the workbooks, or seen any "arcs" but I thought I'd drop you a line anyway. I am so happy you've gotten over your fear of demons and such! I, too, was terrified until I found AstralDynamics and learned more about sleep paralysis and OBE. When I started to relax and let go, things started getting real interesting.
I also recommend the books by Robert Monroe!
Since you are a newbie, if you have any questions about something - whether it be "arcs," "meditation," "sleep paralysis" or whatever - - - try the search function, type in your key word, and up will come past correspondence that might meet your needs. I've learned a lot from it!

"As Above, So Below"
Hello,
Welcome to Astral Pulse!
While I have not used the workbook, I have a suggestion regarding the "arcs." You've probably been asked this a zillion times, but was it the Northern Lights?
I'm an artist, too! Do you have an oline portoflio?
Take care and nice meeting you. :)
Jeni
Tisha,
Thanks for the kind reply, and especially the tip about the search function. I'm sure it will come in handy and save me a great deal of time and trouble. As for Robert Monroe, I picked up Journeys Out Of The Body and Ultimate Journey a couple of days after I finished Astral Dynamics. Wow, was I ever blown away by those two! I can't wait to get my hands on Far Journeys. I thought about ordering some Hemisync CDs too but, I think I'd rather save the money and just build up the core skills through the Astral Dynamics methods.
Jeni,
Thanks also for your thoughts on the 'arcs'. I wondered about a Northern Lights type effect, but is Texas at a high enough latitude for such phenomena to be visible? I think I'll try and research the Northern Lights and see if I can't make some sense of the curious display I witnessed. As for having an Online portfolio, nope, sure don't. Mostly I write, but I do have some visual art ideas. I've been saving up empty cigarette boxes for at least a year now with the intention of building a pair of lungs in a sort of modern sculpture. I gave it a shot about two weeks ago, but I found that due to the size of the cigarette boxes, I'd need about five hundred (I've got about six hundred now) more for the lungs to really take shape. I really love paintings and drawings though. Do you have an Online portfolio? Thanks again

You're welcome. :)
My portfolio is under construction; however I do have a little bit of art on the web.
I designed the official web site for Muppeteer Caroll Spinney (Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch). In addition to the design and the web site illustrations, I put up a couple drawings in the "Fan Art" section. Caroll is a beautiful artist and I'm sure you will enjoy his work as well.

Hello.
I thought I might introduce myself and ask a couple of questions as this seems like the right place for it.
I'm a 26 year old artist and I have had 5 spontaneous OBE that I can consciously recall. They took place about 2 years ago. The first four happened late at night while I was asleep. I became conscious to find myself in a state of waking paralysis with no idea of what was happening to me. Don't laugh too hard but the first thought that came to my mind was 'succubus.' I'd heard of OBEs before but never really thought anything about them. People had OBEs when they were on the operating table, not when they were sleeping in their own beds. So when I found myself 'vibrating' heavily and seemingly bound I thought some evil demon was at work. I was also very confused by being able to see while my eyes were closed. I fought like hell to call out for help or move and of course eventually freed myself but remained pretty shakey about the whole incident for a while. I 'woke up' like this three more times at night. By the fifth occurence, which happened during the day, I felt the 'vibrations' I had resigned myself to being abused by some evil force and let what may come. What I now recognize as real-time sight quickly set in and before I knew what was happening, I was floating beside the couch outside of my body, drifting and very surprised. I asked all kinds of people about the strange feelings and wierd 'dreams' I'd been having (I already had had and knew what lucid dreams were and was able to discern that these episodes were certainly not lucid dreams) but no one I'd knew had any idea of what I was talking about.
Anyways, I just recently came across a copy of Astral Dynamics, read it, and was astounded to find in concrete black and white information regarding: waking paralysis, real-time sight with the subjective trimmings overlaid on the normal waking physical perception of reality, and the 'vibrations'. Needless to say I was awfully relieved that I hadn't been prey to succubi, demons, or evil spirits.
Now two years later and two years more mature, I am convinced that the goal of my earthly existence has been to learn and grow. Having found Astral Dynamics I hope will open important doors for me. I can think of no better way than learn to consciously project to gain a broader understanding of my own being and place in this vast and strange universe. So here are my two question:
1. Has anyone on this site used the Astral Dynamics Workbook (available for download here) with success?
I have looked over it and think it looks like a pretty well structured companion to the book and would like some feedback from anyone who had had some experience with it. I'd personally prefer to go slowly and build a good solid foundation than to rush at the goal and meet will half handed results.
and on a slightly weired note and I only ask here because I can think of no other place to ask,
2. Has anyone here ever observed in the night sky, or even the day time sky for that matter, a single or series of arcs, arches, parabolas, or waves moving at a constant speed, at a low altitude, in a south to north direction, or in any direction for that matter?
I ask as I witnessed just such a phenomena a couple nights back. Two of the arcs were right next to each other, the third followed just a little ways off and slightly behind the first two. At first I thought I might be seeing things but I followed the things a fair ways. I passed under a tree and they appeared on the other side of the obstruction without delay, still moving at a constant rate. Just thought I'd ask.
Sorry if this post is long for a newbie. Please excuse any breach of dicorum.

oh, one more little thing, i don't know if this is common knowledge around here or not but when lucid dreaming, if you start to 'loose it' just start spinning and the feeling will come right back and keep you from waking up. i don't really but a minute or two experience out side the body, but maybe that technique might be in some way applicable to OBEs as well. and thanks in advance for any responses.
