Well i recently started practicing trying to astral again last night (haven't tried in about 3 years, and before i wasn't successful really). Anyway, i laid there for who knows how long, it could have been an hour or two, for some reason I was dead set on trying to astral last night even though i haven't tried in so long. Here is my experiences, maybe you all can tell me if I'm close and what i should be doing differently.

Well it took me quite a while to relax, but after i did  my arm and my head of coursed itched, but i ignored them. My whole body started to feel tingly, and i felt kind of 'floaty' but i could still definitely feel the bed touching my arms and things like that. I stayed in this tingly state for what seemed like 20 minutes or so, i tried imagining myself 'floating upwards' but that wasn't really helping. I started to get frustrated and so i started thinking about my motorcycle and almost daydreaming about it. Well it seems like i caught myself right before i was going to get out or fall asleep or something, because as soon as i realized i was drifting off and concentrating too much on my motorcycle i like 'snapped back' (if that makes sense). The only thing i can relate it to is if you go to sleep quickly and you have a falling dream where you are jerked awake. It wasn't nearly as violent as any falling dream I've had, it just felt like my legs/chest dropped a little.

I thought "HEY! I think i was close to projecting!" so i tried to relax and think of things i enjoyed again, but it was hard because i kept thinking i would fall asleep (even though when i tried to fall asleep without moving from my position i wasn't able to). I had one more experience of the slight 'fall' and then i gave up for the night and turned over and went to sleep.

I think that i was close to projecting, but i don't know what to do to really give myself that last push. I keep thinking "Oh, maybe i'm astral projecting right now, oh wait no, i can still feel the bed under my body". (on a side note, right before i had a 'fall' my legs couldn't feel the bed underneath me, they just felt super tingly i guess). I think my problem might be is i get too excited when i get close, i always think "OH man this is it!!! Go go!!! Don't screw up!" and then i snap myself back to reality. Anyway, anyone offer any tips? I'm going to try the roll out of bed technique tonight or tomorrow morning. Anyway, I welcome all thoughts, comments, and constructive critisism. :)

Judging by your experience of catching yourself in the borderline state, and the falling sensations,as well as how you learned to ignore itches,I would say that you WILL achieve it-it just takes time, and practice.Just remember that you may have to keep practicing for the skill to stay in shape (that's what I've found anyways-I'm "out of shape" at the moment myself).

You're a motorcyclist? I want to get my licence soon-I would love to get one of those BMW gs650's eventually 8) ,although I'll probably start out on a 250cc dual purpose or something.

Yeah, i just got my first bike, a 2002 Suzuki GS500 with only 168 miles!! (Not even broken in yet and i got a killer deal on it!!). If you get a motorcycle i would reccomend getting something smaller at first, nothing above 500cc's (even that is pushing it in my opinion).  Be sure to get lots of gear (leather jacket, gloves etc...) and make sure you get a full face helmet:
