OK I was laying down and trying to get to focus 10 and after a while I was tired of trying and I rolled over to go to sleep  after a while I lifted my head up and It turned out i was at my computer desk and there was a picture of a fish on my computer. I got up and I was wondering how I got there. I walked over to the couch to go to sleep and I was already sleeping on the couch. I thought there YES I DID IT and I went to walk into my kitchen. Although I was having difficulty walking (It looked like I was missing my foot.) If it was an OBE the no foot thing was probably because I have a cast on my ankle and wasnt able to get it out.

OBE or lucid dream?  Same thing, IMO.

If you have lucid dream where you are having an OBE, then you are directing/controlling the OBE, due to your lucidity, are you not?

It's about level of awareness.  I believe that if you dream you are having an OBE, you are actually having an OBE during a dream, but because your level of awareness is lessened, it doesn't seem so "real".

I wouldn't worry about the foot thing - the first time I had an OBE, my legs felt so strange, like they were swollen and I could hardly walk.

One thing to experiment with - when you say you were trying to get to F10 and got tired of trying - next time fight your body not to roll over and fall asleep.  Stay where you are, let your body go to sleep where it is and remain mentally alert.  This takes a lot of practice.  Often the command from my body to "roll over and sleep now" is too strong for me to resist, but if I do resist I tend to find I have an OBE at some point during the night.

Good luck!

That is good news for me. I know that feeling over your body saying "Roll over now. I want to sleep." I will keep in mind to try sleep with my head facing the ceiling.

Ah- its nice to hear that others get the same urge to just turn over and crash. Anyway, I have had a somewhat similar experience where I asked myself the same question- OBE or Lucid Dream? I had a dream where I remember laying down in my bed thinking "hey, why dont I try to project.." So.. I ended up doing just that. Then I recall jumping up and down as if I was on the moon and thinking over and over to myself- This is  awesome! I am soo going remembr this when I wake up!! Only thing is when I looked back at my bed my body was there.. Yep then I awoke wondering what is it I really experienced. --Yeah. So according to this thread.. it was most likely an obe? not just some.. dream about having one?

If you manage to fall asleep while trying to have an OBE and end up going lucid, then you're probably going to carry that desire into the dreaming state. You're going to see your body; it's part of the dream of having a OBE. One way to check it is to try to read a word or sentence of a newspaper or other piece of writing lying around and remember it so that you carry it back with you when you wake. It's said that you cannot read in dreams (though I've found that it's not always the case for me), so even by reading it, you've added another level of probability that you're having a OBE. It's more reliable then checking the time, because you would mostly know what time you went to sleep and be able to come to a conclusion of what time it should be, so that's what time you will see if you are dreaming.
