Yeah these sort of illusions are common.  I have had many, one that is very similar to yours is that often when in sleep paralysis I see an older lady looking down at me.  She seems very kind though.  One time she even followed me on a camping trip.  One time and old mean lady watched me and then jumped onto my chest, it freaked me out.  One other time a baby type thing, very very very evil, crawled up onto my chest with a knife in its hand.  Needless to say it scared the excrement out of me and I stopped trying to OBE for a while.  But since I've started again I havn't seen or heard anythind too scary.  I think that this stuff is our imagination or negs and pose no real threat.

Well, strange that the day before yesterday I have also experience something to that effect. That night I achieved two astral projection and one inner body experience where I'm in my body and in a state of paralysis. Had I not experience something like what you experience, I would have .

Well, I also live alone in my college.

It was at night and I was in sleep paralysis state after an astral projection earlier (well, actually two in that night, I probably attempted another projection had I not been scared by that incidents). I heard someone open the door and entering my room. That some one also put something on my study table and I can see that he put bathroom towel on the place where i hang my cloth (I am scared at that time so I just glinted from the corner of my eye and I don't see his body). This person was pacing back and forth on the side of my bed. I could also feel like my hand inadvertently touching it when he is pacing back and forth. However I cannot see it. Partly because I'm scared and i try to appear insconspicous and just looking from my just a little bit opened eyelid so that it does not notice me. However I noticed that it seems that It only walk at the place where I am not trying too see( sort of it doesn't want to be seen by me). All the while this thing keeps ,mumbling some funny sound (don't laugh but it sounds like nyoknyoknyok ad infitum). and i could swear that the voice does sound like my younger brother (though I don't think that I have heard my brother make that nyoknyok sound).
I was trapped in that state for quite some time and I keep calling God and try to break off from paralysis (more like something heavy was placed on me at that time). I try to move my big toes to break free from paralysis but it doesn't seem to work although I can move my big toes and other toes). Well, finally I broke off that state and that ordeal end.

That's my story.

Ame, what's scary is that whoever you were spying on puts their towel in the same spot that you do...lol

Same with my keys too, I always toss them on the table.

I'll try not to let it discourage me, but I get them so frequently that I am almost tempted to try to OBE only through lucid dreams to avoid that state entirely.

ame

Yea Amber, don't let them get your spirit down.[:D]

I'm lucky that I never seen their faces or body (maybe because I always close my eyes heh..) or It'll be much more spooky. My invisible roommates steps kinda have a shimmering or glowing quality to it like sometime when you have etheric OBE and every object seems to glow. In fact it reminds me of my first spontantenous etheric OBE in my teen.

Well, illusions or not, it was very scary at that time. Won't let it stop me OBEing though. IMO the best way to act in situation like this is to keep a passive observing attitude and not get carried away (if I can keep my cool that is). It always seems like your fear are intensified at those time...

My question is why are we able to see them with our physical eyes?

A couple of reasons why you can see them...

1.  You want to so you can.
2.  They want you too.
3.  You are just one of the lucky ones.  Your mind is open more at that point than at any other, and so all information is there.  Un-filtered.

I'm very disappointed... seeing the subject of this thread lead me to believe that you can make roommates invisible... I really wish i could do that [V]

okay that would freak me out..both the roomate thing and the towel thing.  Ive heard voices when im in that state but thankfully never seen anything.. the voices alone snap me wide awake.  If i saw someone i'd be running out the door.

Once though when i was close to projecting i thought workers were outside my windows but when i really paid attention they weren't speaking english.. or any language.. like you describe it was noises.  But it was in such a way where i wasn't scared and for that im thankful.  Being afraid has to be one of the most powerful emotions out there.. and i dont enjoy being in that state *L*

Oh yes, I have awoken trying to scream on many occasions, especially when the OBE's were spontaneous.

I had a series of three OBE's when I was younger. I fell asleep and woke up paralyzed, I could see the top of my door opening like someone was coming into my bedroom. I woke up trying to move, then fell back asleep and into the paralyzed state again. This time there was a woman standing over me! She was just a dark mass with indistinguishable features, but somehow I knew it was a woman. So, I screamed and woke myself up again. Sure enough I fell asleep again and back into the paralyzed state, this time I saw the door of my bedroom opening and so, I willed my arms to move and shift the covers over so that the 'person' or whatever could lay down beside me. When I woke up for real, I found my covers shifted over exactly as I had 'dreamed'.

You can live alone in college? I'll be sure to remember that...

Did you get a clear view of this person? If not, what if it was ... you? [B)] Think about it. If the person always does the same things you do, why couldn't it be you?  What if...

I don't know why i posted here..felt like it. Can't wait till I'm in college...learning stuff I already know...again. O well. Two more years..

You could just try pretending they aren't there.

Cainam - Reason number two would be scary. I don't want them to want me...

Goingslow - Unfortunately, I never snap out of it that easily. At least not after some time struggling on and off the paralyse state.

Amber - Now, that was scary. I never experiences something that scary though (lucky me).

Squeek - No, I don't live alone actually. The university provide me with invinsible roommates, remember?[:D]

I never get a clear view of this person. He is invisible to me. But it's like this 'person' or whatever it is composed of energy. It's transparent but have some kind of faint yellowish, glowing tinge to it. Now that you say it, it could have been me. This reminds me of a spontantenous OBE I had in my younger year napping in my great grandmother house where I was walking in that house while at the same time struggling in sleep paralysis trying to scream. Only that time my vision is on my double and not on my physical while this time it is reversed... who knows.   But if that's the case then I was scared of myself and I did make a very stupid sound.

AME,
It is not so much that "they want you" but that they want to be seen.  They want thier presence known for somew reason or another.  You just need to find out why.  But if there has been no aggression from them then there is very little to worry abiout for now.

Have you tried talking to them yet?  Maybe asking why they are there?

kampersdream

if you dont feel threatend by theses entities, maybe you could try to communicate with them. they normally come by for a reason. try setting your thought/intention on knowing what their message to you might be. just a thought. good luck

Now that you mention it, it very well could have been me! The thought occured to me when I first posted it, but it's such a scary idea, that I immediately discarded it. Also the thought that it may have been like a recording of the future or the past 'me'...
Sometimes I feel a little bit like Alice in Wonderland with this stuff...lol

By the way there is a sure fire way to make roommates 'invisible'!
Just start leaving your dirty underwear on the kitchen table, playing loud music at obscene hours of the night, never washing your dishes and borrowing their clothes without asking permission...those roomates will 'disappear' in no time at all!! Hehe...

Amber

I find that when I am in the sleep paralysis part of OBE's, I have the most bizarre things happen to me. Like the other day, I felt my limbs getting heavy and realized that my body was asleep, so I just lay there with my eyes closed. I heard the sound of someone coming into my apartment, walking through the livingroom and throwing their keys on the table, then coming to my bedroom, picking something up off the floor, walking out again and closing the front door!!!

I live alone...

Or I will see someone walking into my room or standing over my bed. But the strange part is that they always resemble people that are very close to me like friends or family. But, I'll look up from my bed and see my mother in the livingroom staring at me even though she is miles away and it will freak me out! Or I'll look down and see that someone is resting their head on my feet, staring at me sleeping and wake myself up trying violently to kick them off of me.

anyone else report similar things in their bedroom in this between state?
