Is insomnia preventing me from having an OBE?

Here is a bit of background on my AP history -

I've known about AP for a little over 6 months now and practiced it here and there (I'd guess 1-2x a week). About a month ago, I started to practice more (5-7x a week) and I haven't yet been able to AP. I've gotten the vibration sensation a couple of times and lately I've been frequently getting a slight "stomach drop" sensation.

However, I find it extremely difficult to get into a trance state because of what I believe to be my chronic insomnia. It takes me at least an hour to fall asleep every night (if i'm lucky), often I'll be trying to fall asleep for 2-3 hours. From what I've learned, that state where you are about to fall asleep is the time when AP is possible. However, I'm really not familiar with the falling asleep sensation because it is so difficult for me to experience.

What will help me get into the trance state?

The biggest reason I got into AP was because of my life long insomnia..I'm hoping I can find an answer through it

Hi,

First off I empathise as ive had bouts of chronic insomnia in my life also. Im sure like me you have become an expert at sleep deprivation, but in case it helps the following things are essential if you haven't tried already...tart Cherry Juice, found in various cherry drinks (check the content) helps raise the chemical in your brain that increases deep sleep naturally and has been proven to aid sleeplessness and jet lag. Hypnosis can break the cycle but for me it was temporary and didn't address the root of the problem.

The most essential and helpful cure is CBT cognitive behavioral therapy. It is excellent for addressing and understanding our thought processes that create certain patterns of behavior and feelings in our life...and is an extremely powerful tool for bringing peace of mind and empowerment. I know people including myself who have visited a practitioner of this and found huge changes and benefits as a result. So well worth a try.

My insomnia actually increased my OBEs for a while as my body was going to sleep but my mind was wide awake. So that is almost perfect for projection. I actually got pretty cheesed off with it after a while I was consciously traveling several times a night in the end for a few weeks!!
