I have had spontaneous OBE for the past 3 or 4 years now. I do not consciously try to project, and I don't engage in any meditative practices. It just happens.
Lately it's been happing much more frequently than in the past. I will lie down in bed to go to sleep and an intense vibration will come over my entire body. Sometimes it will seem like a strong wind.
Then I will project out through my head and out my bedroom window. Then I will be standing outside my home. I don't know if any one else has experience this, but everything is so incredibly vivid. The stars in the night sky are so clear and numerous it is like you could reach out and touch them. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen.
Sometimes things appear like beautiful fountains and flowers. Everything has this glow and radiance. It is just so colorful and vivid. It is hard to describe unless you experience it.
When I am dreaming this never happens. I don't experience the intense vibrations. The scenes in my dreams are not even a 100th as vivid as my OBE. And I usually dream about stuff that doesn't make any sense or being at work or something.
My OBE's all have these things in common. #1: they all are preceded by an intense vibration that comes over my body. #2: I always exit my body through my head and then go through my bedroom window. #3: the incredible beauty and vividness of the experience.
Despite all this I would like to know if they really are OBE's or lucid dreams or whatever. Unlike some people in this forum, I do not engage in any practices or exercises to try to astral project. It just happens. I am starting to get a little freaked out because what use to happen every 2 or 3 months is now happening 1 or 2 times a week.
Anyone have any explanation for what's going on?
Thanks in advance,
Tony
Hello Anthony and welcome!
You are one of those lucky people who have a natural gift which many on this board would love to have. We have to work hard to achieve what you seem to achieve naturally. By all commonly accepted standards, you are experiencing classic OBE's, and I would argue that these are not dreams.
You seem to be having what we call "RTZ projections" (Real Time Zone projections). This occurs when you leave your body and find yourself in an area which closely resembles the physical world you are used to. Others skip the RTZ and go into a different realm, the Astral, which can seem earth-like but does not correspond to any known physical location.
I know it's hard, but try not to be frightened when this happens. I don't believe there is anything to be frightened of. Just enjoy...!
Thank you Cat for the response. It's comforting to know that someone can relate to what I am experiencing.
The actual experience of being outside my body is not frightening. In fact it's quite an incredible experience. It is the vibration that precedes the OBE that is a little unnerving.
Once I lay down it will start, the intense vibration or wind that comes over my body. I am fully aware of this while it is happening. It's like: "here I go again"
Now I guess the question is: Why the hell is this happening to me? What is the purpose of this experience?
Again thanks for the insight,
Tony
Maybe it's your time to realize that there is more to life than the physical.
One way to prove to yourself that it's not a dream is to check something while out of body and then check the same thing again when you come back.
For example, take one playing card which you don't know, and tape it somewhere where you can't see while in your body. When you are out, go check the card and come back to body. If you got the card right, then that's a pretty strong evidence that's it was not a dream. Robert encourages all starting astral travellers to do this experiment to prove yourself that obes are real.
And since you have obes all the time, you can do this repeatedly, so you can be absolutely sure the first time wasn't "just plain luck"
And when you do this, don't try to guess the card, that can cause you to see the card you were thinking. Just go and see it and immediately come back to body shouting the card in your mind so that you won't forget it.
