Hemi-Sync?

What seems contradictory to me is to delay the spiritual growth process by this highly artificial life style that most of the world has or is adopting:)

On a serious note - I think that hemi-sync allows us to balance our brain which used to happen naturally by living out in and more in tune and balance with nature.

As for "fast forwarding" - meditation while pronouncing the word OM.. or sounding a gong.. etc. - in essense accomplishes the same thing.. just not as efficiently as HS(IMO) - and is also "fast forward" compared to not doing anything:)

I have tried the brainwave generator.. and some of the Brain Sync (deep meditation & Sound Sleep) CD's - that are basically doing the same - and have found aside from assisting me in initially calming down from a hectic work day quicker then I usually do on my own - they bother me in anything related to OBE and just distract me. Yet have heard that they work great for others.
I did not try the Monroe Institue CD's though.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll have to agree with tdd as I have tried both the hemi-sync and the brainwave generator, and although they will take me to a relaxed level, it is no more relaxed than I can obtain just by going thru my regular meditation.  In addition, they make my mind lazy, and cause it to get out of practice.  So for me it works best to just meditate on my own with some soft music like ocean waves in the background from speakers, and not from headphones.  If I use these at all they will be at night when I am sleeping, as they may be beneficial there.

I was wondering if anyone  has experienced  the hemi-sync experiment that takes place at the Robert Monroe insitute. I'm sure most of you have read his books, but I am interested if anyone has attended the workshops. I am a little troubled when going on the site the idea of Hemi-sync, which is a sound that producing change in brain wave patterns, hence allowing the brain to work both hemispheres as a intregrative whole. Does it seem contradictory to rush the process of spiritual growth by a external advice that is suppose to achieve heightened awareness that would normally take years of meditation. Should we be fast forwarding our evolutionary spiriutal growth? Doesnt this seem dangerous to send those who may not be ready into the astral world and beyond, not only for the individual consciousness but for the consciouness of humanity as a whole? Would this push towards awarness be delpleting the fruits of the labor?  The more I think about it the more I am concerned. I would appreciate what anyone else has to say about this topic. I have written a email the the institute to see what they think, and if they have ever recieved this concern in the past. I mean Spritual growth means exactly what it is, growth, a deep internal process that should be aiding by medidative techinique and such, but a man made sound wave pattern? I just dont know?[:(]
