Title: Is smoking a barrier to astral projection?
Post by: Rito on April 09, 2009, 02:12:50
Hello Everybody,
This is my first post and I want to send my good wishes to all of you and I say special "thank you" to those who have created this beautiful forum.
My question is the subject itself. I am a smoker without any breathing problem. Can I astral project?

I'm quite partial to the occasional american spirit cigarette, and i honestly don't experience any difficulty in projecting.

Thanks mattoid for your reply. Yes I have experienced serious vibrations 3-4 days ago. At about 3-30 pm in the noon I was sleeping with my chest touching the bed (I dont know how to describe this posture in english, it looks like a running posture). Suddenly I woke up and felt something very strange and strong is entering into my brain through the right ear. After sometime it turned into very strong vibrations and spread throughout my body. I was unable to move and I realised its the well discussed sleep paralysis. But alas! Even after previous knowledge of this, I was scared! I thought in this posture, if I leave my body, my physical body will die due to lack of breath. And after much try, I moved my legs and hands. I cannot decribe how frustrated I felt when I was fully awake. I am trying astral projection for only 2 weeks and I am sure that the experience was triggered by an enlightened person about whom I will not discuss here. He says that astral world is only a part of lord Shiva's manifestation and there is more to discover. But as I am very eager to astral project, I think he gave me an opprtunity which I could'nt use... I tried and requested for it again and again but no luck. I love him very much and I think there must be a reason that the experience didnt happen again. I will discover it one day.

Smoking is not a barrier for me (I smoke a pack a day). Wasn't a problem for Robert Monroe either =-)

I, too, smoke like one american spirit a day and it doesn't seem to affect it. I had a vibrational experience a few days ago. A question I have is if smoking cannabis effects OBE training at all. Does anyone know?

Well for some it helps people focus on one task at a time, for others it seems to make focusing a chore. I would say though the light headedness and spinning that accompanies the high would make it nauseating, at least for me it would. (I used to smoke it but stopped about 8 years back)

I smoke cannibas now and again and have found that when i'm attempting to have an OOBE the vibrations and feelings associated are enhanced, it's perhaps a little more worrying than usual but i've had some of my best experiences when i've been on cannibas to be honest. I haven't yet had a concious OOBE and i've been trying for roughly a year and a half now, seems like a while i know but i'm very close, i know it's real and it'll happen when i'm ready. I'm new here and have a few questions of my own but i'll post them elsewhere, see ya's!

If it was you'd have as many spirit guides walking around with "Smoking is Bad" advertisements as you do here in the 3D.
