Is there a way to bypass certain hangups to get out of body?

Just wondered if there is some herb or other device that can "moderately safely" almost guarantee an OBE?

What i mean is - you dont have to get past the steps of conquering fear, being utterly focused consciousness all the time. 

I cannot overcome instinctive - ingrained fear (from when i was a child)  i know the theory and plenty of methods and i am not fearful of OBEs but my rational mind has nothing to do with this.(it is no help)  Its all instinct.  I have zero control or input in this.  In which case then.... the path to overcoming fear is a very very long and bumpy one.  Like i might spend so much time on the preparation, the correct mind state etc but it is all useless if i have zero control over feeling fear which negates the obe immediately

Which is why i ask if there is a quicker way to do this.

Do you just need more experience, to break in the fear? That's how anybody progresses, to the extent of their comfort, and beyond is were growth occurs. About herbs ... marijuana  :-D ... but maybe mint or something. Try and search for it?
Actually, I've had more control when using cannabis, it lets me focus, try different things out, and if I intrust it enough, I'll have 3rd person perspective, obe feelings. Those fade away though. I use it as a guided obe; the next time i'm going through my obe process, i've experienced something greater.

The best thing you can do it just keep doing the whole routine over and over.  Sisyphus.....


It would do you much more good to find a way around the fear and develop your ability to focus.  You'll be happy you did in the future.  The problem with using devices or "substances" is that you condition yourself to only be able to project in the presence of those objects.  I kind of have that problem with ear plugs and a blind fold. 

However, there is an herbal supplement called "Fatigued to Fantastic: Revitalizing Sleep" that calms you and helps you focus.  You can get it at most health food stores or natural markets etc.  It has a lot of stuff in it, some of the ones that I remember are Valerian, Wild Lettuce, Hops.....there are more but i don't remember what.  But I can say that when I have laid down after taking it my mind was blank, perfectly focused and I was relaxed

Nope.
There are no devices or herbs out there that will "guarantee" a successful OBE.  Just hard work and dedication.  :)

As for fear...
You don't need to "conquer" it, per se.
You do have to accept that it's going to be a factor and not allow anything that you fear to bog you down.
It's human nature to fear the unknown... and OBE's is about as unknown as it gets.  LoL
It's all about not allowing that fear to manifest by controlling your thoughts and emotions.

Don't get caught in a situation where you find your environment being controlled by those two elements.  :)

I do the routine again and again.  I usually get to a point where i sort of jerk into awakefulnes and i feel that this is when smt is happening.  Perhaps my consciousness hold on too tightly to the reins so when there is a change i instinctively react/snap back.

The fear isnt something i can put a name to. its like bashing my head against a brick wall.  I guess if i constantly keep hitting my head against it either my head breaks or the wall does.  But it feels as if no progress is made each time.

AS far as using devices go, I know that robatusen cough syrup in high doses has sedative effects, and supposedly in extremely high doses can cause hallucination and even oobes.  I've never tried using it for an oobe; but i've drank near a full bottle before going to sleep and I was 100% relaxed with no distorted consciousness.  Honestly, I think it's best to project using nothing.  I take afternoon naps in loud butt dorm and have conditioned myself to project in a loud environment so quiet environments are much easier.

On a separate note, do you have to lie on your back to project or can you do it from your side?

I believe we have a rule regarding the discussion of drugs... even using legal drugs in a manner which they're not intended.
I could be wrong though.

All of the other things they put in Robitussin cause serious damage to your liver when you take in high doses repeatedly.  Not good for you at all.

There is one way and one way only to "bypass hangups", practice.

Certain herbs and psychoactives CAN induce an OBE. The rub is that these substances Rarely induce an OBE. And when someone does get out of body while using a substance the OBE is usually short and confusing. I did use DXM (Robotussin) to go out of body 2 or 3 times about 6 years ago. Eventually I developed a tolerance for DXM and needed to take higher and higher doses to get the same results. The side affects made this course of action HIGHLY disadvantageous so I stopped using DXM 3 or 4 years ago. The same holds true for most similar substances, whether legal or illegal. The negative side effects eventually (far) outweigh the positives.
Brain wave generates, hemi sync CDs, meditation and esoteric disciplines are much more effective "paths" to induce an OBE. They offer the added bonus of being legal and none result in nasty headaches the following morning.

Galantamine/choline combination after 5 hours sleep can make things a whole lot easier, but the experience feels very different than when using traditional induction techniques. The extreme vividness can also lead to nightmares. Insomnia too can be a side effect. It's not something I would use regularly, but I have tried it on a few occasions and usually projected, or at least had extremely vivid, lucid dreams.
I've also had some success with mugwort. Personally though I think the natural approach is best in the long term.
