Hey Pencil, welcome to the forums. It's very probable that your experience was an OBE, and a very scary one indeed. The paralysis is the best proof.

Hi,Pandemonium... thanks for your reply ..

It was only a year after the incident, then i got to know that there is actually this OBE thing... and i have never attempted anymore successful delibrate OBE..

Hope to have one soon.. but on the other hand,... afraid... of being caught in similar scary situation again...

Most of the scariness in the situation was your own mind at work trying to cast its perceptions in the terms it's used to on the physical.
It takes a bit of courage at first but once you convinced yourself of the fact that youer in almost total control of what happens things get much more pleasant.
There are some phenomena, astral wind to name one, that aren't in our control but my belief and experience is that there is nothing out there to get us. Others disagree but with the level the astral respond to our subjective minds I'd say the matter is still very much undecided.

Hey Pencil, did you have morphine or some other drug for painkiller that day? I had morphine just before my operation on my appedix, due to the fact it was soon to rupture. I saw all sorts of crazy hallucinations while that came on. It wore off shortly after I awoke, but in that period of time I saw things that simply were not there. I have no doubts in the possibility of it being an OBE, but if drugs were used, it seems to make more sense that way.

My mother who is also interested in the metaphysical told me that the drugs they gave her made her hallucinate a black caped man walking to and fro in front of her bed in the hospital. I saw somethen similar to a ghostlike person, more like smoke when I was drugged.

Hi again Pencil. I'm sure that you'll overcome that fear, in most cases OBEs are actually very beautiful experiences. Don't be afraid of negs, they are not that dangerous, altough they can be scary. My advice is that you try to achieve more OBEs, who knows, maybe you're a natural! [;)] Remember, you can easily overcome fear with experience.

Take care

Hi, Psi, that morning i had about one hour's worth of epidural.. it is a form of anaesthetic to numb the lower half of the body for easier delivery... , had Postan too, a form of pain killer..[:O]that might have been the cause... hmmmm..

I do agree with you, Pandemonium.. I have read the forums here, and most accounted their delightful OBEs.. i also hope that one day, I am able to phase and reach Focus 21[:P] and visit my brother, mom, grandpa, father-in-law... wow... got to put a list up.. (or at least see if they are all there..) [|)]

Pencil

[:D] ops! Not Focus 21, it's Focus 27!... Still a novice..

Hi Pencil [:)]
For what it's worth I believe that you did have an OBE that night in the hospital. Two OBEs in fact. The discarnate that you saw Could have been a negative entity. Or it could have been another person who was having an out of body experience or near death experience while in that hospital and was curious about you. Or it may have been a person who recently passed away while in the hospital = a ghost -    and was curious.
The combination of a stressful and emotional experience, such as giving birth, added to any drug that the staff may have administered to you, wcould have combined to produce an OBE.

Hi.. knew about this website just about a month ago.. When i first visited, i read up briefly on Robert Bruce's Treatise.

When i read up on the part about the spilt mind stuff.. it reminded me of an incident i had just about 1 year plus ago..

I just delivered my daughter that day, and that evening, i stayed over at the hospital with my hubby.  I still remember it was the time when we just retired for the night.

When i was just falling asleep... I could not exactly remember how it started.. but i knew i was experiencing some waking paralysis.  On the other hand, there was also this "me" standing infront of my bed looking over.  Both me, i vaguely remember, notice there was a black figure, that was just beside my bed, which actually bent over to look at me..  i wasn't sure either, if that was really my real sight or if my eyes were open at that time.. The "me" lying on my bed was quite hostile about it.. but all i did then, was tried to sit up but with no success.. (feeling of paralysis). The "me" standing infront of my bed also saw the same black image bedside my bed..

I thought it was probably only a dream..

Then, a nurse came in, drew the curtains and checked on me.. then i woke up for only a slight while, Then when i close my eyes again, not long after, i experienced the same thing again.. exactly.. this time, the black shadow (not too sure if it was a neg), went over to my hubby who was sleeping on a sofa bed, and it looked as if it was about to attempt to sleep over/beside him.  When I saw the black figure bending down.. I screamed my lungs out: "No! No!Don't! Don't!"...

Then both of us woke up... and my hubby woke up in a shoking state... and he asked me what happened. (i bet he should... he has never heard me screaming in my dreams before... ) I related the whole incident to him, and for the rest of that night, we squeezed and sleep together on my single bed!

I suspected that this might be an OBE.. But who knows?
